I’m curious if Brandon is aware of PirateAba who is the only fantasy author I’m aware of that puts out content even faster than Brandon Sanderson…like a lot faster
ОтветитьMy 2 favorite authors… only need to some rothfus in their too
ОтветитьI finished all of the Sanderson books then discovered Abercrombie right after. Just finished the last book in the First Law series. The difference between the two author's styles are immense but I enjoyed them both equally. Moved onto the Powdermage Triliogy and am really enjoying that too.
Sorry for rambling. Just wanna say this is kind of surreal for me seeing two authors who recently affected my understanding of the genre so much chatting together. They have both inspired me to start writing.
My two favourite writers! Absolutely love it!
ОтветитьThis interview is amazing dude.
ОтветитьThus was simply a joy to watch
ОтветитьI discovered the blade itself randomly on a bookshelf in a public library when I was like 11 years old. It is shocking to me, to an insane degree how many people I know who love fantasy that have never heard of Abercrombie. It was a total happy accident that I do know him and his work.
ОтветитьWoah I actually emailed him about working for from software it’s crazy to see it being brought up
ОтветитьThe viewers often forget how much latency is involved in these 3 conversations both from a network perspective but also from software perspective and whatever audio chain everyone has. That said this was handled very well. What people are coding as “interrupting” or you being talked over are actually just symptoms of the medium and excitable loquacious people having a fun conversation. Exactly what I’d hoped. Nice :)
ОтветитьI hate the word "grimdark." Sounds so goofy and makes me cringe.
ОтветитьAbsolutely brilliant content. We really should get a show with Daniel Greene about books on Netflix or Amazon.
ОтветитьPoor Robert Newcombe
ОтветитьAh perfect I have the Blade Itself on my reading list. Just what I need.
ОтветитьAs hard as it is to accept it brandon is right about animation. Do i think you can often tell a better story capturing all the beauty and nuance of a world with animation? Yes.
But then i get to someone like my sister in law. Mid 20s, huge kpop and kdrama fan. Shes watched a ton of shows with me and my brother on reccomendation and loved everything. Has watched 1 out of the 70 odd animated shows and movies we reccomended.
A lot of people still hold the idea that animation is for kids. And that needs a decade or more to begin to change
The ice, Daniel. The ice.
ОтветитьMy 2 favourite authors on screen together chatting away, this was too awesome. Love your channel Daniel, you really know how to moderate big personalities and your content is top notch as always.
ОтветитьHow is Daniel getting Brandon on the show so often?? He has a close contact with him from another source or how?
ОтветитьI never realized how much Brandon Sanderson looks like Rich Evans. God works in mysterious ways.
Ответитьi am currently reading Hero of Ages and Best Served Cold, how did i just find out this exist?!?
ОтветитьTo the question of unadaptability. I'd say lovecraft.
ОтветитьThe crazy thing is that I got recommended Joe Abercrombie through watching Brandon Sanderson's lecture videos. When he talks about breaking in and the notes he received, he pretty much says "They really wanted Joe Abercrombie, but didn't know it yet". To add to the magic, I was broke but had an audible credit at the time. Now I've got everything of his on Audible, which a lot of people think is the best way to consume them. 🤘
ОтветитьPosts self promotion because problem with authority
ОтветитьThis flashed up randomly on my feed today, I'm so glad I took the time to watch it - absolutely brilliant. Kudos to Daniel for stepping back very early on and just letting Joe and Brandon talk!
ОтветитьLive action Flatland adaptation would be wild lol
ОтветитьEPIC podcast. Thanks Daniel
ОтветитьI want a signed Red Dead shirt!
Ответить"I have trouble pronouncing his last name." That's how you know Brandon is an American. Every one of us Canucks damn well knows how to pronounce Villeneuve :D
ОтветитьI don’t think Sanderson gets the respect he deserves. Sanderson said Abercrombie makes him want to be funnier referring to his writing. Abercrombie said he wants Sanderson’s success and relationship with fans. Nothing to do with his writing.
I compare Logen ninefingers with Dalinar Kholin and I was curious if Logen at all inspired Sanderson to write Dalinar’s story.
I've always held that the Malazan series would make a better animation than a live action tv series.
Especially in the gritty dark anime style, with the spells and blood flying on the battlefield, the ethereal warrens where gods decide the fate of men in ominous meetings, etc
But people told me Erikson is dead against, even hates, anime, so i guess that puts the kibosh on that
Brandon's shoutout to GGK made my day.
ОтветитьWhen these two, two of my favourite authors, then mentioned my other favourite author Guy Gavriel Kay I 😭😭😭😭
ОтветитьI love Pratchett's take on Tolkien
“J.R.R. Tolkien has become a sort of mountain, appearing in all subsequent fantasy in the way that Mt. Fuji appears so often in Japanese prints. Sometimes it’s big and up close. Sometimes it’s a shape on the horizon. Sometimes it’s not there at all, which means that the artist either has made a deliberate decision against the mountain, which is interesting in itself, or is in fact standing on Mt. Fuji.”
― Terry Pratchett
I like Brando but I LOVE Joe
ОтветитьFifth Sorceress. My god. Why did you resurrect that in my mind!? It was finally gone after 20+ years!
ОтветитьQuality meets Quantity.
ОтветитьMore of this please!
ОтветитьBrandon and Joe are such different individuals and it really shows in their works. This stuff is brilliant 😂😂
ОтветитьSomething that struck me is how they said that the editor is like an author's advocate. And I'm just sitting here like: do publishers even want books? Because it feels like there are so many blockades. Like wdym even when you're accepted your book can still be thrown away?
ОтветитьGame recognises game
ОтветитьI'm glad to have transitioned to laptops and tablets, the clackity clack can be distracting...
Also, two words: White Out...
Sanderson breezed through Elden Ring because, if you map your keys correctly, typing out a novel is the exact input sequence you need to destroy bosses. xD
ОтветитьThat's not even a fern 🤣
ОтветитьWait, did he say Morecock?
ОтветитьDaniel got this right, when you are a up and coming author still learning the craft and you get the chance to listen to 2 giants of the craft, you shut up and listen and learn.
ОтветитьI need a list of all the authors/books that got mentioned and recommended here.
ОтветитьSanderson has an amazing skill with interviews and talking. I mean, besides his writing. He is a joy to listen to and I always feel like I learned something and come out of his videos more fulfilled.
Theres a high charisma stat behind that smile.
I like how Daniel intended for it be a dual interview and it just turned into a conversation between Brandon and Joe about business of writing and publishing books
