eevee is great for things that shouldnt look too realistic but cycles is still the winner. unless eevee next actually finishes up the raytrace render cache which may or may not look close to cycles.
ОтветитьSomething like Lumen, Global Illumination and real time reflections. Great work Blender Team
ОтветитьCycles was running in CPU mode there, no wonder it was slow 😂
ОтветитьWhat are you on about?
1. EEVEE has nothing to do with Unreal. Most GPU renderers were upgraded or re-written with the spread gpus with compute and unified shaders, all about the same time. Unreal 4 sort of set the standard in gpu rendering with version 4, Unity upgraded their lighting, PBR materials were an important advancement implemented in multiple products, and EEVEE was written from scratch around that time to implement the new stuff (new rasterized lighting techniques, shadow casting and HDR).
2. Cycles is a parallel and fast; full path tracing rendering engine with HDR; PBR and emissive materials; and area and polygon lights. You can't get more ray tracing than that, it's state of the art. It's as advanced as any of the commercial offline engines.
3. The lighting in EEVEE Next is not even remotely close to Cycles. It only implements GPU raytracing for primary rays. What shadows? There is no shadow casting in the scenes you show. Also, I don't see any ambient lighting or AO, which also suggests no light bounces. Also, Cycles could already run on the GPU, that's how most people using Blender professionally run it since RTX became a thing.
You are removing inside filling of old burger and comparing only buns with new burger, a filled burger. What about ssreflection refraction, ssao , ssshadow , which belongs to eevee ? This is misguiding comparison.
ОтветитьThis is nice. I wish the "export everything to unreal engine and render it there" workflow will just go away before it becomes the standard. Btw Cycles can be super fast and Eevee can look great if you know what you are doing.
Ответитьthis is useless for games.
ОтветитьYou gotta use cycles gpu dude it's not a good comparison if you are using the cpu
Ответитьlooks cool as hell
I wonder if it still handles NPBR materials just as well as EEVEE.
It‘s time to bring evee on the next level on par with the engines of unreal, unity, etc. That democrizes the creating of quality renders a lot. Because you don’t need high end hardware for cool renderings besides of an GPU with hardware ray-tracing.
ОтветитьAwesome, thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьThanks a lot for covering this topic! I've been waiting for it around 8 months and it's here now! I'm sure it'll get better with beta release of 4.1. but this is more than enough for lots of artists that were relying on EEVEE.
ОтветитьEevee is what made me want to switch to Blender from Maya years ago. Working in Eevee was miles closer to a final result than working in Maya's Viewport 2.0. At least at the time. I'm not sure if Maya's Viewport has gotten any better since then. But Blender is about to get even better with Eevee Next!
ОтветитьWow the desk is pink looks like a broken prefab in unity 😂
ОтветитьI can see that the light those look way more realistic than with cycles! This is so much nicer but could be more expensive if you want to get it to look like it did in cycles! So how many light sources would you need is the question? And we'll will it compute?
ОтветитьAutodesk to by Blender Foundation after eevee next
ОтветитьImagine UPBGE with EEVEE Next.
ОтветитьAs someone who made a lot of cheep animations with blender, eevee next is going to be a game changer for projects that don't need to spend countless hours rendering.
ОтветитьTry rendering Cycles on GPU with Optix denoiser turned on instead and the performance difference will be WAY smaller, especially if you're using a modern RTX card, then Cycles will also be realtime with also the BIG benefit of not having to wait for Eevees indefinitely slow shader compilation when you are working with heavier shaders.
So sure Eevee Next is interesting, but I'll probably continue using Cycles because it's generally faster to work with, it just eats polygons (instanced trillions of them ain't a problem) and it will always look more realistic because it is an (almost) unbiased raytracer.
ok but the whole scene looked mega drab with evee next. the lighting was not passing trough the window properly either. they need to work more on it before it becomes on par with the cycles preview.
TAA reprojection is HUGE for me tough. it makes animations far faster to render especially on cycles
It's amazing news but I think it's still not finished and till the final release it will be much better since it's going to be like Lumen in Unreal Engine!
ОтветитьI'm not going to play with it until it goes into Beta. Alpha is like Alpha males...
ОтветитьSo Eevee Next is basically Lumen?
ОтветитьWhy is everyone talking about a Pokemon? 😉
ОтветитьWhy your cycle preview is so damn slow? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Ответитьeh!? Why compare gpu eevee to cpu cycles speed?
ОтветитьI've been waiting forever for EEVEE to incorporate Baking AO & Displacement maps,. It was promised during the Blender 3 days. So are we there yet ?
ОтветитьEevee-next will be awesome once fully ready. I gotta say though, you did a terrible job of comparing it to Eevee, because Eevee can do reflections and can have shadows increased and stuff. It just isn't enabled by default. Eevee-next's main advantage is an improved rendering pipeline, screen space light bouncing/global illumination, and some performance improvements. That said, still an interesting vid!
ОтветитьThis will be a game changer for rendering(as the first eevee was). Can't wait
ОтветитьSo you are showcasing reflections capability of Eevee Next and don’t even enable screen space reflections for traditional Eevee? This is not a fair comparison.
ОтветитьWhy nobody speak about the render time??
ОтветитьUPBGE!!
ОтветитьWait until Vulkan, we'll have non screen space ray tracing.
ОтветитьYou are using CPU render on the Cycles demo.. Use gpu experimental to see the comparison properly
Ответитьlmao, you are using cycle in CPU mode, no wonder why it seems unusable in the viewport
Ответитьeevee next sucks ass , its not ready yet
ОтветитьThanks, brother, I didn't know this before.
Ответитьif anyone wants to use a stable Blender release (with no Eevee next as of now), you can still get those reflections with old Eevee by adding and baking Irradiance volume
ОтветитьYou seem to be running cycles in CPU instead of GPU
ОтветитьFor me EVEE Next is an oversell because you cannot shift seamlessly yet from cycles to EVEE route. It is just an inclusion of Irradiance dome enabling use of emission material and light path. Apart for that all others are not a huge difference.
ОтветитьSorry but, eevee next real time global illumination sucks. Jagged shadows, broken ambient occlusion, and its not a very strong effect. There A LOT of problems with the shadows, and a lot of problems with the bounce lighting.
If you REALLY want something better, please use the SSGI blender build. It is objectively better at what it does than whatever eevee next is trying to accomplish.
I even made test renders and the results are night and day.
Hi - you should try changing Cycles to use your GPU instead of your CPU. It won't be as fast as Eevee but depending on your hardware, will but a lot faster than what you're experiencing in your video!
Ответитьworking with cycles is more ok with the viewport denoiser
ОтветитьCan someone tell me how to install it?
ОтветитьHow do VDBs look?
ОтветитьNice video thank you! So you think Eevee next will be real time like UE5 etc I love Blender but sometimes doing animations it slows down to a crawl and even Ton was saying it’s because the architecture of Blender is ancient.
