I find the idea of time travel ridiculous.

For people who debunk this, people in Norfolk, Virginia saw the ship appear and vanish too.

About the last part, where the ship would pop in and out of existence as they were 10 minutes beforehand of the test. It might not make sense, but thats how it WOULD have worked. IF it was real.

The Montauk Experiments claimed this happened. This was on Coast to Coast when Art Bell was still alive.

The truth is that Philadelphia was founded by Dutch witchmen who named the town after Delphi, home of the fabled but historically existent Oracle of Delphi.
Philadelphia was, from its European rebirth, a center for shamanic and demonic rituals and spiritual experimentation.

Well, I’m rambling now but, you get the idea, the Philadelphia experiment wasn’t 100% factual, obviously, but owes it’s lore to actual happenings that left no trace with paper documents or other evidence, many missing or KIA soldiers were eliminated to prevent exposure and, yeah I’m gonna stop there.

While the story is absolute trash the "fusing" part can actually be explained but you need to go to the atomic level to do so. There is allot and I do mean ALLOT of empty storage between atoms, the fusing one object through another would simply be the atoms passing into and through the empty space between the atoms of another. Like two fog banks or dust clouds combining into one. Thing is when something like that happens the density of that thing would increase and the only way to undo it would be to either destabilize the atoms again and hope they pull apart while staying mostly the same or just cutting it off which would leave lots of people amputated and those posts of the ship denser but structurally compromised. The guy falling through the floor for example would by dying from damage to his cells and an excess of iron in his body and the floor he traveled through would be dense but very weak as it is no longer just steel as whatever was missing from his body would by trapped in the deck plating. The hand in the wall if he fell the material that made up his hand would be scattered throughout the wall in whatever direction he has traveled and yes that means cutting it off, that hand is never coming back. Yes that means the bodies would have been cut from whatever they were combined with and painted over with the body parts still in the material itself. I'm not justifying this hot streaming pile, just explaining how this part would work and what they would have to do to fix it.

As dumb and fake as this is it’s still one of my favorite stories. I just view it as science fiction/horror

Sorry but most of your argument of “the government would never” is moot. The government isn’t afraid of wasting money or people as a means to an end. With that being said, I still think the story is b.s. but not for that reason.

This accidentally opened up new avenues in physics. This really happened. It's a government cover-up because they don't want other countries copying their ideas.

I have a vivid memory of hearing this story somewhere, although it was mostly different and wasn't crazy.

The story was that the government (at some point, can't remember when) was doing experiments, trying to make ships invisible. Instead of quantum mechanics, the experiment was simply using highly reflective material to bounce as much light as possible off the ship, supposedly similar to how a mirage on the horizon works. The results were kind of meh, in that yeah it made the ship harder to see, but you could still see the ship. Or at the very least that there was something there trying to hide itself.

Obviously this isn't how anything works, and I have no idea where I heard it. I just remember subconsciously associating horizon mirages with this experiment.

This is why the moon landings stopped: The Eldrige was found in orbit!

I remember this tale from the first Command & Conquer Red Alert game where it was part of the tests involving the Allied Chronosphere technology.
