With respect Lewis, on this occasion you’re talking nonsense. Biden, though under pressure, made the decision to bow out of the race himself. It is perfectly reasonable for the convention to thank him for the years of his service to the country, not just POTUS but as VP and, before that, on Capitol Hill etc. But he accepted that the nation has to move on. I don’t perceive any hypocrisy.

I don't agree about about the so-called hypocrisy. Yes, Biden had to be persuaded to drop his candidature because with his frailty he looked certain to lose. But he withdrew gracefully, as his speech on Monday showed. The party was not pretending he didn't have to persuaded to withdraw, so it's not hypocrisy. For the first time I'm disappointed in you both. I wonder if you changed your tune after hearing Biden's speech. Where's Emily for balance?

I like the News Agents but this episode is pretty L. People appreciate what Biden has done but it was pretty obvious he had to go, whether that was willingly or forced it might have saved the literal democracy in the country from another Trump term.

Joe lost because after his debate, he showed he wasn't able to surmount the problem's of age which drew a line in the sand looking at a Trump easy win. Age vs age favours favours the younger old man.

If Trump wins, then Biden's legacy will be toast. It was in his own interest to stand aside.

Biden's address was his reluctance to give up the Presidency, his desire to still be President. He was edged out. Some bitterness remains. His age was checkmate. When he was younger 29, he was too young, now he's too old.
