Thanks so much to all the Thames Barrier team: it was an incredible privilege to be able to film there. And thanks also to the production and drone teams: the Barrier is next to London City Airport, so there's a lot of paperwork and approvals required to fly there!
Ответить"This mechanism will never ever fail. And even if it does, it won't." how dis make any sense?
ОтветитьThey should start to move London further away from the ocean. They should buy up the land near the sea and force people to move further away from the sea.
Ответитьwith the amount of overengineering, I'm surprised they didnt build 2
Ответить"It must still protect london" that feelt powerfull, sounded like something straight out of a super cool movie
ОтветитьDon’t let putin find out 😂😂
ОтветитьIt's not going to be a high enough wall in the near future, let's face it.
ОтветитьOne of the few times people decide to their jobs well and respect other people's wellbeing, when the risk is 9 million lives ruined. What a wasteland.
ОтветитьSo, the barrier failing (£20 billion) would cost less than Liz Truss being PM for 44 days (£30 billion)
ОтветитьIf you fill your Wellingtons with Thames water and walk back to your "Flat" with sopping feet... Your probably an Englishmen....
ОтветитьAnother totally professional presentation, but for some reason the camerawork really jumped out?, it really explained visually what you are explaining verbally. Another top job :)
ОтветитьThere is going to be a time where the Thames Barrier will fail, and I will be here to write: "This video aged very poorly"
ОтветитьMakes you wonder what they did before it was built. 🤔
ОтветитьThis is the most insane engineering I've ever seen this seems like it's from some post-apocalyptic movie, even the way Tom describes it, how have I never heard this mentioned outside of this video?!?!
Ответитьthe dutch: amateurs
ОтветитьYes, and the Titanic was unsinkable...
ОтветитьInteresting.
ОтветитьHey Ferb i think i know what we're going to do today
ОтветитьCan we have more systems that are not allowed to fail? I love videos about public infrastructure like this.
ОтветитьDamn for something so important that software look so ancient
Ответитьbut how London will survive the predicted rise of the sea?
ОтветитьBe worth it tonwash the houses of Parliament away
Ответитьthe dude he interviewed look like a nonce
Ответить1 in a 1000 years isn't that high though
ОтветитьWhat if it gets blown up like in Ukraine?
ОтветитьWith this Tory Government at the helm the Thames Barrier failing is an inevitability. (30/6/2023)
ОтветитьSo we can take from this that the oceans aren’t rising as we’re being told 🤔
ОтветитьUsually I enjoy Tom videos but why is he so aggressively and annoyingly British in this vid? And at the beginning, he is predicting the end of the world, flooding all parts of london, and massive starvation. Just make a normal video bro without the hormonal crap.
Ответитьokay, the beginning of this video was made for people who think with their feelings. Please just do engineering and documentaries, and cut out the hormonal bullcrap. Millions of people forced violently from their homes by flooding and dammages, and the emotional scarring from the damages. . Cut the crap.
Ответитьmurphy's law is no joke
Ответитьgive me a job there and I bet I could get it to fail (everything I touch fails)
ОтветитьOh, Londonium.
ОтветитьI know. I'm the barrier.
Ответитьif mode three fails: prepare your anus.
Ответитьoh so thats what that weird bridge does
ОтветитьOnly the low lying parts of the Thames that really flood. It's not like we're expecting a Tsunami.
ОтветитьSo if someone invades London....
ОтветитьYou love that Shirt don’t you
ОтветитьSo what happened before a barrier was there...did London flood every high tide?
ОтветитьIf they failed it would cause Billions of Dollars of Improvement !!
ОтветитьMy grandfather was a Thames Waterman and Foreman Lighterman. Sinking that boat, would've been in his words, "A very bad day at the office! " For some poor sod!
Ответить1 hurricane and it’s in a huge problem
ОтветитьAnd where and when and why and how is this supposed super tide supposed to happen? If it happens to London it could happen anywhere.
And like was said, when you are working against nature, there is no such thing as "over-engineerd."
If something "too big to fail" does fail, just give it a bailout. That's what our government does in America, anyway.
ОтветитьDeepening the river to avoid overflow as sedimentation was the culprit..
ОтветитьIRA: hmm interesting
ОтветитьYou need to watch the old 2000s movie The Flood. Thames barrier fails, and everything unfolds from there.
9/10 would cry again.
💣💣💣
ОтветитьWhat if it was nuked
ОтветитьDamn how bad do the floods get????
Ответить
