I like watches, how they are made, how they work.. it's something beautiful... to admire every time when you look at it... Problem with many watches ( except ultra expensive ones ) .. they are ugly as f...i would not put that on my hand no way, doesn't matter what mechanism or however is built.. 90% of watches ( proper watches, not fashionable cheap ones ) .. are not my taste.. and those which catch my eyes.. and look gorgeous.. ofc are Patek ... or Lange.. Even selling organs of all my family members i would not be able to buy that watch.. so what i can do? Buy something what will make me happy when i look at it.. and when you come to that part.. you simply accept this is crappy maded watch.. but.. it looks nice.. so you accept that and move on.All companies should have a "Fashion" line.. and to make it to be affordable.. not super cheap.. just.. make it harder to get but still be obtainable to us mortals.. and those companies will not do it, why? Well they want to keep quality up.. NAME is important.. well then don't complain.. and they miss a lot.. Some series/lines need to be super expensive how they are right now.. just they should add more.. and hire somoene who understand fashion... lol..

I'm watching this video about five years after it was posted. I agree with Teddy. He is expressing a very mature view of things. It's pure snobbery to think that these brands don't have a place in the marketplace. They surely do give how many people buy them. Teddy brings up a great point that the traditional watch makers are clearly not meeting this market niche. While these brands offer lower quality watches that won't last long, I think that's almost unavoidable since these start ups need to be price competitive. I think of these brands as the fast fashion of the watch industry. They make low quality products that meet the fashion demands of the moment and then fall apart soon after. But they will have served their purpose. The owner will simply move on to the next fashion trend.

Don’t see the issue with them falling apart after a couple of years. Have two Vinceros and they are holding up just fine. It’s not like I do kickboxing with while wearing them

I own 4 mvmt watches. I like them because they have a unique look to them. I do own some Casio, Timex and Fossil watches as well. However the mvmt watches that i own i purchased them on their clearance part in theIr website because there is no way im gonna pay full price for them. If anything they should at least sell these watches under 80 bucks maybe 60 and I'm just being fair.

I have MVMT and DW watches, been using them 8-9 years since the beginning of those brands and they are really last. Still working properly didnt have any problem

I know nothing about watches, and am looking for something that looks great. Everything I like is way too much for an entry level purchase.
Vincero attracts me because 1) They look great, and I can afford one, and 2) They put their watches in my face, everywhere.
If there are better watches for around this same price, I've never heard of them. As a layman, that matters. A lot.

No problem about them producing and selling crappy products at inflated prices for those who don't know better and worry only about superficial looks. Happens in ALL areas of products.
THE ISSUE comes when they claim false standards and lie in their advertising.
Then, if influencers don't mind burning their reputation by sponsoring crappy products, that's up to them.

A watch should have a military grading. Be contracted to be issued to military personnel. And, do simple things.

1). Have a strap that fits over a glove or diving sleeve.

2). Be luminescent enough to see under water or in poor lighting .

3). Stand up to weapons recoil, shock blasts, and, able to survive being covered in mud, snow, sand, etc….

4). Have a rotating Bezel. So you can monitor arrival and, departure times of vehicles accurately. Without needing to use your hand holding a weapon to push a button to see a screen in poor lighting.

This is all I ask if my watch. I am a simple man with simple needs.

The above is just my opinion. I use a Marathon Czar for the purposes mentioned.

They are the only watch maker I know of that has a line of watches that meet military specifications. And, once we’re issued to Coast Guards, Air Forces, Navy and Marine personnel etc ….

This is just my two cents. But , ( in my view), I need my watch to be dependable and, durable. I could care less about any thing other than as I previously stated.

I was curious though. So, I checked out the cost of my watch ( which is now 10 years old). On the Marathon website. And, it’s not cheap.
My model is $ 6’000.000.
But, as I stated it has been in environments that a watch probably should never be exposed too. I would replace it with another ( if, ever I had too) quickly.

In this world you get what you pay for. I will be handing my Marathon on too my son one day.

And, as he goes through his life as a soldier can add his chapter too it’s story.

100% agree. Not to be paternalistic, but I was proud of MVMT for their Ocean Plastic edition. The dial looks like they put real effort in it. And it has a solar battery. The rest are hot garbage.

I fell for it, I fell for it, I fell for it for OG and Stauer and fell for the design element not caring for the movement, except the movement of my wallet!...However, it was my step towards my first Patek Phillipe Calatrava...lol....now I own several Seiko, Timex, Tissot, Rolex, Longines and Marathon......

They're just dress watches. Nothing of great value.
If you want value go for a Breitling if you want something to go up in value Rolex is hard to beat.

You checked out these watches. Check out high end Titan watches. It's a highly appreciated brand in India having their own quartz moments.

The only real negative thing I heard was that they were poorly constructed. Can't speak for the other brands, but I got a vincero in 2016, have worn it while working in a warehouse, training with the military and its held up just fine.

How are these brands any different from Chris Ward (almost all SW-200 movements for $1k+ dollars), Dan Henry (all the watches are basically homages and quartz movement for more than any MVMT watch)? Chris Ward even has the same b.s. marketing language on their website (Direct to customer, cutting out the middle man, passing you savings etc)

Id be lying if I said I didn’t see a Vincero watch that caught my attention but I still have pride in knowing that the quarts Orient Chronograph I bought is still a much better buy.

I love the fashion watches. They are affordable and look good on my wrist. They do not fall apart if you take care of them.

Metal clasp has a very boomer look to it, to be honest. These brands understood what the consumer wanted: something that works well with their outfit. They've done their marketing outreach and deserve every bit of success and dollar they get from a satisfied consumer.

Really appreciate your honest and reflective perspectives. I'm someone that owns a number of eco drives and really have liked them over the years. Also have a bulova 96g10 that I love and my wife has the matching. My wife just purchased the vincero altitude for me as a surprise. Really like the styling and its something more on the sport/casual side that I haven't had before. It's got enough quality to it to not feel too cheap and she picked it up for like 80ish bucks. So, I'm going to see how it goes. Overall, I would rather have a quality piece that keeps really excellent time and will last a long while. Some of the watches I have are nearing or just about at the 20 year mark. I have never really been into the "flash in the pan" fashion type watches. I honestly think some of the higher quality brands like Citizen, Seiko, and Bulova could potentially snag a bigger market share if they worked harder on fresh and trendy design but what would be the compromise to that? Maybe quality would suffer as they wouldn't be able to keep up with the demand and then they would become what they possibly don't want to become.

You can get the same watches from Ali Express 1/4 of the price.

Can someone explain to me the difference in quality of the internals of such a fashion watch compared to another similarly priced quartz watch of some of the brands like seiko, citizen, orient, tissor etc.? All I ever hear is they have bad quality vs. they have great quality. But what specifically is the problem with the materials they use, which parts out of which material are the problem. I geniunly would like to know and learn. Just saying it's bad isn't a good argument for me.

Ok, they're still way over priced. You can get almost identical watches off of alibaba or aliexpress for 3 bucks.

I was a big enough sucker to buy 3 OG watches and they're all shinola. Nice looking but each one broke in some way.

What about Claude valentini, krug baumen and zeitner watches ? They get really bad reviews but for under £50 how bad can they be. People probably have expensive watches lying around they'll only wear them for special occasions and keep them decent for future generations so nothing wrong with wearing designer watches for every day.

My “gateway drug” to collecting watches was Daniel Wellington. Many of these watch brands found a kink in the armor of traditional watch brands and capitalized on it. Quite risky move, but it paid off. I still have my Daniel Wellington beside my Tudor and Rolex watches. 😜

It is true. I have a couple skagen watches from 10 years ago. They are great looking. Thin, modern, metal mesh band. Most watches from the good watch brands don’t look as good. And when you do find a watch from a reputable brand that has a clean good luck , they are their higher priced models. I don’t want an inch thick dive watch.
