New E63S VS Old E63S : Can the Real AMG Hammer please stand up?!

My face at @ says it all, you know which one I like! 😂 Hope you're liking the new segment, BUT I NEED to know, what other VS MODE match ups do you guys want to see!! These are a bit easier to edit for me, so I can smash some out for you guys this year. Give me some inspired suggestions!!

I own a 2019 E63S, it’s the most gorgeous car ever. The facelift if beautiful, but let’s face it, it looks so similiar to the CLA45, it’s just bigger, it doesn’t have the “obvious” E class look,
Also the missing IWC in the centre is an insane downgrade for the interior….

Oh damn my local Benz dealer just got a 2018 E63s in with all the fruit, carbon, recaros etc. $70kUSD 30k miles. I know what will happen if i test drive it 😂. Great review. I have the 2022 GLC 43 AMG and thinking of trading it for the E63.

Ecellent review of the two e63 variants. I think I will purchase a preface and used one. The sound is just so much better and that is 50% of the AMG experience

New one is so much better, face lift is 10x more modern. The interior is literally a sporty s class versus the older version. Love it.

I’ll take a pre-2019 model thanks. The 4.0 has lots of recalls. The old 5.5 not even close.

These cars are becoming to video game like, cheesy and cheap inside. Tablets everywhere. Just ugly.

Hi, E63S owner here. What a great review - thanks for sharing it and for being balanced in the assessment of the two cars. I bought my 2018 'Premium Plus' brand new (so obviously a pre-facelift - see my profile pic) and remain really pleased with it. Being a mug for anything AMG, naturally I checked out the facelift - I was aware of the slightly less excting engine note, but what also put me off was the frontal appearance, which to me looks much softer - I definitely agree the pre-face lift looks more muscular.

The enhanced info tech I can live without - when my car was being serviced, I was loaned a high-end Merc SUV which came with the latest technology - and I really didn't like it, despite having a few days to play with it. Its the driving feel and expeirence that is more important to me. My 2018 feels similar to an E39 M5, obviously way quicker and more advanced. I don't doubt the slightly more refined ride quality in the face lift, but I'm unconcerned by that too - it's an E63S, it shouldn't ride like an E350 and besides I like the enhanced feel it provides. Mine has the bucket seats and I'm a well-built 6-footer and can honestly say that I've never felt uncomfortable, even after many hours of driving. So if anyone is concerned the pre-facelift buckets, don't be - they are far more comfortable than they might look.

So I really can't see any reason to change my car, I absolutely love it. However, despite being almost fully optioned, it doesn't mean I wouldn't be averse to upgrading certain aspects of it. Mine came with the Burmester sound system - can this be upgraded to the high-end version, for example. I was interested to gather from the video that it would be possible to change the steering wheel for that in the late pre-facelift car. My original steering wheel was replaced under warranty as the part of the stitching was coming apart (in a the hardly-touched 11 o' clock position - very strange). I asked for the latest wheel, but was told by Mercedes that it was not compatible.

That seems untrue judging by the review, but then Mercedes aren't the most helpful company around.

Could you (or anyone else) let me know of what else might be upgradeable, please. I draw the line at exhausts and remaps, etc. The only after market product that doesn't trigger engine warning lights is the Brabus example, but to my ears, isn't much better in terms of sound given the amount it csts (rather alot...). Anyway, mine sounds great as it is and is as fast as you could want to go. Any thoughts welcome.
