The most awful toilet situation I've ever experienced was at a train station in France. We went to pay a quick visit to the WC and were really horrified. There was nothing but a very ugly, filthy hole in the floor. All around the perimeter of that hole was brown nastiness from the shoes of thousands of people who had stood there trying not to slip in that mess while relieving themselves. Obviously, it was much harder to use that "toilet" for those of us who are women, or anyone who has to go #2. Yikes!

How do you know how much toilet cleaner you're using so you can follow the instructions accurately as to the amount of cleaner you are to use when you can't see through the bottle? You don't, right? So then if you don't use less than the specified amount, you don't really get your toilet disinfected and if you use more than needed, then you have to buy their product again even sooner which benefits their company! Either way you lose...

I just use Clorox bleach wipes and clean from top to bottom, then outside to inside the bowl.

Yes, in Germany they make you pay to use the toilet and they also make you clean up in some places, leaving you a brush to clean the inside of the bowl after your business is done. I actually believe that this practice should be applied to all businesses in the U.S. It certainly would help with keeping out the drug addicts who use the restrooms for other business besides what it's intended for. Now that is a toilet nightmare that nobody wants to deal with.

When we visited the Empire State Building in New York in the 90’s - there were attendants on duty at all times. They kept the restrooms clean and safe.

My mother suffers from OCD. She is 60+ years old. She wakes up every morning and cleans the toilet. Talk about Spartan way of eating the frog first thing in the morning. And I f***in hate that. lol

Little fun fact about the toilet at Mc Donald's in Germany. You don't have to pay to go to the toilet. It's more like a tip for the cleaner. But it's for sure a good thing to do, since those people doesn't earn much and literally clean the shot after you. 😂

If I happen to be in a public bathroom when the cleaner is working I make sure I thank them for what they do. Where would we be without those hard working folks.

Also put your hair up and wear separate gloves when you clean the toilet bowl . Also dry wipe the whole bathroom before using any cleaning solution.

I wonder why toilet rooms in the US, europe don’t have a sink/drain in the floor and a jetspray attached to the wall like it normally is in the South and West Asian countries. Cleaning the whole commode and the room with water after you have brushed the exteriors with a cleaning agent, while the water then drains down a sink is so much more comfortable and easy.

I literally seen a lady clean the toilet the entire toilet bowl/tank/handles/seat with the toilet brush!! The same brush that she cleaned the bowl she cleaned the whole thing with the toilet water!!

If you've truly seen some things, you know how important that is.

Any tips for old people? I have arthritis and can only clean one thing at a time in the bathroom. I can not get down low enough to clean the floor around the toilet. Got any suggestions?
