Just discovered your channel as i'm looking to get our first electric car. Really helpful and nice to see the point of view of another family, think you've helped convince us to go the electric route. My wife has family in Cortina, Italy but think Cornwall or maybe Scotland will be the furthest we will go, its more for local area and short day trips around Kent/E.Sussex. Just trying to decide which car to go for. Tried Teslas and am not convinced. Have a 2020 Mercedes now and I like all the interior details, found Teslas too minimalist. Thinking either Volvo EX30, Mercedes EQA or BMW ix1.
Tough decision. Any suggestions? thanks Andrew.

Great video! Bit like flying vs road trip, you could have made it much shorter, but wouldn’t have been anywhere near as interesting! Also, only the V2 Superchargers (two connectors) share power. You can get full power on V3/4 even when charging next to someone

So glad you got this one finished! Very much enjoyed it, and loved the 'artsy fartsy' views and musical stuff during your trip. And I love the personal tilt you give your videos.
Ironically.... I came across your channel when I was considering an Ioniq 5 - but they couldn't sell me one... and ended up with a Tesla MY in early 2023. I haven't driven a 3, but contrary to Flaviana's assertation that 'It's not comfortable' - I think perhaps that's just the M3 talking. The MY is as comfy as my wife's old 'tank' (Subaru Tribeca) that she loved.

The sat nav zooms. It zooms out when you're going fast on a straight road, it zooms in when you're going slow up and doing turns. I'm really big on this. I hate the zoom level on my satnav being 'stupid' and I find that it does exactly what I want it to do *for me*. Now, I know I have mine set to a different setting to the wife's - she likes hers where North on the display is 'the direction you are headed' and I like North on the display to be North on the map, so I'm travelling left when I'm headed West.. that kind of thing.

The charging is - as you say, utterly braindead easy. It's even easier in the USA. The NAC's port.. You literally pull up, pull the handle out, hold it near the port, ( I don't recall if you have to press the button, but.. let's go with 'press the button' ) plug it in, charge.. get out, press the button ( while it's in the port ) and it'll disengage and you put the handle back. There's probably something in there about having your phone near it too - for disengaging, but... Like Flaviana says? That's possibly one of the biggest things about a Tesla. The charging is just.. such a non-issue.

I also hate the fart module. The wife... Loves the fart module. What is it with adult women turning into adolescent boys? Maybe they missed out.. :P

The window wipers are crap. They never did like.. I dunno? Is it like a capacitive windshield or something that detects rain? Instead.. going with a 'camera view which detects when it's raining?' - it's shit. Everyone ever who's owned a Tesla will confirm. It uses the center windscreen camera to figure out the rain thing. They come on when it's NOT raining, they don't come on when it is..

Ultimately? I kinda love my MY. It's a great car, overall. Will I buy another one? No. I'm holding out for a competitor to advance in the areas Tesla is good at, and since they're opening up the charging network in the USA for other manufacturers, I expect that the major plus that the Tesla has will become commonplace, at which point I'll buy a car which doesn't have a complete wanker for a CEO. :P

Great views in the south. They have now fixed the headlamps with a new pixel control algorithm, so that a proportion of the lights stay on more (pixel mapping). The autopilot is FAB. I use it all the time now and have used it extensively in France. You just have to keep your foot near the accelerator in case it has a moment to itself, but otherwise very clever. The wipers, yes, dumb as can be and very annoying when you leave say an airport and a layer of dust has stuck to the camera aperture; they stay stuck on on auto mode until you wash them clear or turn off autopilot as the software is always getting in the way. But that’s ok, because next time you remember to clean that area before driving. You can set various places like work and home in Sentry mode to leave it off (safe zones). They need to suggest to you to turn it off at airports and the like, so you don’t end up with a battery at 21%! And you’re right, they are gobbling lots of power (=>750maH) using the main CPU and no doubt data transmission. Again, no biggy, but it needs fixing. And thanks for such a well produced video. Switzerland and Italy, here we come.

Update on the awful Model Y (2023, not 22!) suspension: I think it doesn't like Somerset roads particularly. Passed through Dorset to the IoW this weekend, it was actually alright. Tesla UI: I don't care for any of the in jokes as well, why call it "Joe Mode" when it can just be "Reduce warning chimes" like a regular "consumer product"? My wife calls it an iPad with wheels bolted on, but it's more like an Android tablet with Elon's funky custom font. The new matrix headlights update is the bomb though, when on high beam it turns off pixels to avoid blinding other drivers. Which also means it can switch to high beams much frequently. On our unlit motorways it's very nice.

Obviously being one of the first and having loads of early adopters (and API availability) there are loads of geeky stuff you can do with a Tesla. I'm using TeslaMate (runs on a Docker in my Home Assistant PC) to collect data from drives and graph efficiency (and generally have a log of where you've driven to and took what route) on Grafana. I also have TeslaUSB installed (in a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 in the glovebox) and it offloads recordings to my home computer when parked and in range of WiFi. It can also sync music files if you're a music-file person.

Great videos which show good real world driving, Love watching your dynamics between each other 😂👍🏼
Like you from the start I have never understood why there isn’t a hudd and also agree 100% on auto wipers and high beam. The Auto pilot also doesn’t feel me with confidence as it takes a long time to react to pick up speed when you overtake by moving into fast lane and I’ve also had phantom braking which I’m sure would be solved by adding addition additional sensors such as lidor .
That said I still love it after nearly 4 years.

“It’s like walking round IKEA and licking the cabinets.” Now I’ve got to taste some of that and it would be cheaper than getting a lifetime ban at the store.

Carcassonne - I didn’t know there was phone version. I do like playing the table version. Never got my head around the ‘Bazar’ tiles, so we just exclude them.

Beautiful scenery, good company, cabinet licking good food… and the EV family. What more could one wish for?

I think the half electrical supply, applies to all double-headed EV chargers. Not just the Tesla ones. As to the green wheels - just because you can afford a Tesla, doesn’t automatically mean you’ve got good taste. Perhaps the driver’s other car is Subaru WRX.

I’m frequently dismayed that more British people on the whole, just speak the native language. You live in Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, España, Malaysia, Taiwan, the borders of German and France and India. And it’s a given that you’re a polyglot.
