Better use a good ac asus router, more stabiel with lot off 2.4 and 5ghz connections. With WiFi 6 on you can get problems.

I did upgrade from the router the ISP provided to an RT-AX86U and noticed no performance improvement. That may be because the ISPs generally provide standard routers, albeit on the lower end of the range, rather than custom or deliberately crippled models. It does mean that for us a router that costs 25% as much as the RT-AX86U is good enough.

Guys I need help, and bear with me because I am a NOVICE! So so for starters, I have a modem in the other room. My question is, can I keep the modem in the other room and set up the router in my bedroom to wireless connect to my modem, just hardwire my PS5 to the router to get the hardwire speeds?

I've a question, I recently ordered an Asus RT-AX88u from Amazon from all the great reviews, the WiFi 6 capability and the 8 Lan ports. Unfortunately before I had chance to cancel the order I noticed that the one they're sending only has 4 lan ports and no WiFi 6 capability. Is this an older model but using the exact same model number?

I have Charter Spectrum cable internet. I have a Linksys WIFI 6 dual-band mesh router. I loved it. However, Spectrum decided to place Linksys on a non-compatible router list. UGH! We tech savvy dudes and ladies should be asking ourselves "Does an ISP have the right to block a customer's router. It's on a non-compatible list claiming radiowaves interfere with their service. I say that's alot of BS...

AIproctection, AdaptiveQoS, andTraffic Analyzer are all build in Trend Micro data collectors. They say they need data to help run the features they offer sure but what they don't say They see every dam thing you do, open and type. including email, file, picture, video attachments. all personal billing, and paying information you have ever entered. There is not a dam think you can hide from them when you accept to enable features like these. Think about it why add features that need actual monitoring with a third party company ? simple data collection for them. There is no good guys in the internet industry.

I love Linus stuff however this review was just too poor :D
No mention of VPN capabilities , SSID capabilities and if possible to dedicate VPN to SSID, amount of clients supported, dyndns capabilities, band capabilities, ...
Tho it was clear from the start he didn't know what to say about a router :D

Been interested in this type of router for years. Would one of these have better range than my ISP provided modem\router in one box?

Thank you @shortcircuit Linus! I bought this router and just finished setting it up. Man is it fast compared to my ISP router! I have Verizon gigabit, and their new CR1000A router is total garbage. But this ASUS router blows it out of the water. Setup was super simple too. Thank you so much for your video! It helped me a lot to prepare of what to expect. Cheers!

I've never upgraded my router/modem before - I only use the one we get from our ISP. We're having more connectivity issues here lately - If I upgrade to this, I'm assuming I'll still use the ISP modem and then just go from it to the router with a ethernet cord? Our house is wired with a coaxial to the modem - so this doesnt replace the modem just the wifi aspect of it, correct?

For normal users, I'd say the ax55 is a better deal at 100 bucks, still has wifi6 still is protected with trend micro, still is compatible with mesh, it's just a bit slower with a smaller range.

Just got this one a few weeks ago. I'm surprised my TP-Link Tapo 2k camera can now connect to this router on the 2nd floor of the house with thick walls in between with much better signal than on my router on the first floor which I moved much closer for it to received better 2.4ghz signal, but apparently wont now connect to this because my camera now connects to the asus router. Love it. My IPCameras are now much stable than ever, great for viewing high quality footage on 2-3 phones without lag. 😊

Do you know if the antennas can be adjusted in direction? Because I assumed they could be, and tried to angle mine outward more, but they gave a lot of resistance and I was afraid I was going to snap them so I stopped. 🤣
