I would like that defense vs missile work against all missile magic like lightning and fire ball, so that my armors could neutrailize all magic, and introduce some magic rating like AR.

PVP held the game, but also mods, speedrunning, Holy Grailing. Blizzard needs to aknowledge that.

one thing that i wanted to ask you cooley: would it be THAT bad if magic resistance % items would be added to the game?? it doesn’t need to be magic absorb 20% but how about 20-30% magic resist as an affix on rings/boots/ etc?

Say it like it is. The was good before and this patch blows.
Java is totally weird and absolutely useless.
Shape shift is crap now.
And this will lead to a load of balancing till everything is shit.
Welcome to cod buffing and nerfing.
Jeah something good is in there but mostly it was useless and well. Foh time!

i think your over looking the set item changes, specifically irathas you can get 75% pierce with vidalia rig and irathas at lvl 14. i know thats still only good in pvm but its pretty amazing

offensive auras should be more about adding elemental damage to your attacks. increasing passive damage is such a lazy fix and will be awfully boring to play.

PvP is kinda bonky in D2 and always has been, imo, but I def acknowledge it is the reason some players get out of bed in the morning and I'm all about people playing the way they'd like to. Besides griefers.

Your points about skills being changed without consideration for PvP is spot on. Especially the examples you give which are all skills basically nobody uses in PvE anyways. Nobody uses Bone Spirit, FotH and Guided Arrow in PvE (almost nobody). The changes are barely going to move the needle on that front but sound like they are going to wreak havoc in PvP. Just seems like a "Why tho?" moment for those skills.

That being said, I am totally jazzed for skill changes in general. Hope we see similar work being done every ladder reset.

The way I see it foh, guided arrow, and bone spirit are pvp skill that weren't really meant to be used in pvm. Considering how good they are at pvp compared to pvm just maybe this was the original design/purpose around these skills.

I Really think we need some 08 style rares and crafts to open the game alot more so everyone isnt building the same char to pvp and the only difference is who has slightly better items

Bone spirit is getting a 160% damage increase if all the synergies are maxed with 20 hard points. But it would take 100 points to max bone spirits and all the synergies. That only leaves a max of 10 points to spec into other skills. That's assuming you are level 99. And have done the skill quests.

Maybe they should buff crafted items? For more end game treasure hunt gear. Crafted items should be most valued end game items in the game. Especially seeing that you don't start making them until your level 93. Buff up all 4 types of crafted gear. Make the crushing blow gloves 5-30% instead of 5-10%. The % magic resist shield buffed up to 5-60% Magic res. not just 5-10%. Give the safety items +50-150% ed.

I have a bowazon with end game gear.. went full dex and max ias…Trying to spam guided arrows into Baal take me close to 300 arrows using guided arrow - compared to my barb/hammerdin/ sorc.. my bowa has the best gear and the hardest time killing Baal… so a flat dmg boost to guided is somewhat nice.. but they can achieve the same effect, imo, by buffing crushing blow for bowazons.. just imo

How about instead of making teleport easily accessible, nerf teleport instead? If not, every ladder starter, speed run, mf and rush games would all be done with sorceress. And then of top of that, buff the mobility skills of other class.

I've said before that they need to add teleport to a cheaper item than enigma, otherwise all you will see at the start of ladder are blizzard sorcs. I'm glad people with some clout are saying it.

I don't know why they couldn't have made fist of heavens have AOE damage a certain distance around the target (maybe it would be hard to implement from a programming standpoint). That would have made it really decent for PvM to hit a small pack of monsters with one bolt but would have left it completely unchanged for 1v1 pvp. It also thematically makes sense because real lightning bolts would hurt people standing near the target that got struck.

I only PvM and I never realized the impact that pvp has on the MF runs. But I always respected PvP. Now I respect even more. There is no better way to say how important PvP is for the stability of the game.

Almost noone cares about PvP in Diablo II. Less than 1% of players play PvP. You sound like you never played a BoneNecro on Hell, your math sucks and your obsession with PvP is quite annoying. I'm sorry that dislike count was removed. 99% of D2 players don't care about the content that you make, even worse, they find it offensive and without logic. Just yuck! Stahp it!

I hear what you are saying about aura changes but hear me out. Tired of 2 Dream (lvl 30 Holy shock) being a lot better than 2 Dragon and HoJ (lvl 44 Holy Fire). Holy fire just isn't competitive. I would love to have a melee sorc with Dragon instead of Dream and rocking the new Flickering Flame helm. Obviously there is different ways to go about buffing aura's though. However welcome some new build options and Level 44 Holy Fire now actually being effective with 2 Dragon and HoJ. Also feel like the Flickering Flame was almost in mind for this Dragon Sorc build.

PS - Appreciate the discussion on why PvP is important to Diablo and always has been.

I disagree about opening up teleport to characters easier. Rather, I'd favor giving each class a movement skill that is close enough to on par with teleport. This thought sort of formed when I saw the changes they made to Leap for Barbarian. If Leap is super fast, it could be legitimately used as a movement skill. But why stop there? Give the Assassin a Shadow Dash skill, give the Necro a Bone Spirit variant where the character can actually hitch a ride with the spirit, give the Druid a channeling skill where he mounts an ethereal deer and moves around really fast at a mana cost that diminishes with levels invested. There's so many cool things you could do to increase mobility, and then we wouldn't see SO much valuation placed on Jah and Ber.

All your rumble about PvP is absolute nonsense, because PvP in this game was and is broken by default... PvP based on RNG items are stupid and in the end no fun...
While many were playing D2 for 20 years - it's there loss, not win for old glorious Blizzard. OMG GuildWars 1 was better diabloid then all Diablos together, and as I remember that was because it had some former Blizzard people working on it - that was Diablo with proper PvP, albeit with some MMO elements (all the world was non-persistent though, as like all Diablo games). PvP was spot on, cause economy did not evolve around RNG, but around cool skins. GW2 was fan as well, and it is still, but I do not play it, since I am not a fan of proper MMOs with persistent world.
That is whole point if you want proper PvP - your path should not be so complicated to join it, join the game all your stats are boosted to max, and you get perfect items at start, and show your skills, full stop. D2 PvP is a joke, it is for masochists willing to farm/grind constantly just to get or buy proper items to join the club. It is UTERLY worthless and stupid endeavor.
It is really funny that "D2 PvP aficionados" are so "afraid" about any changes about their beloved game... Get real game is TOO old - it needs to evolve, or it would be left to rotten for another 20 years for the nerds and all, it needs to attract new audience, not just keep the old ones, and it is miserably failing at that so far...
Hence, I salute all the 2.4 changes, and instead of rumbling what will hurt your already broken and stupid (seriously how about proper 8 vs 8 goal based PvP?) just propose how to make it awesome - hint RNG is not the key :)
I'd rather they would up the enjoyment from the game in PvE, than to bother at all about PvP. They just would not have resources to do that, honestly... What PvP? CTF? or may be Battle Royal? Those who would like to play PvP would not come to play 20 year old ARPG... PvP evolved even more than just ARPG, the one which in D2R now is rudiment anyhow. If one want a proper PvP experience, it is just a wrong game...

Maybe if they want to buff bone spirit they could have it do extra damage to demons/undead. I agree it probably still won't be useful in pvm

A lot of the points you are making towards PVP doesn't make much sense and so far sounds like a bunch of complaining. If they patched these skills to make them more enjoyable to use for the people that wish to use them, why rain on there parade?

Also the point you made about bone spirit also doesn't make sense, if the damage from bone spirit is detrimental to players going against it, how would the damage be insignificant in PVM if it is too high for PVP. You basically contradicted yourself...
