There are unbiblical flaws in this story. Her name did not change until she was made queen. This is significant. Also, Mordechi was her uncle and not her "much older cousin". Just sharing because these things matter.

In my culture the naming of a child is very important because they believe the child will be impacted by the history of the name. I was named after Esther and heard why but this is the first time I have heard it in detail. I am blessed to have her name. I understand where my helpful attitude towards other comes from.

Ugh the hypocrisy! You don't have to lie and embellish biblical stories for them to have significance. In fact by putting your own very biased spin on them you're depriving them of deeper meanings. Esther learned the art of manipulation from her uncle Mordecai. They were both masters manipulators. Mordecai's pridefulless almost cost his entire nation their lives, but at the end God turned all for good and His purposes. The book of Esther is definitely not a romantic story between a man and a woman! The king was weak and full of sin. He slept with multiple women that were not his wives, including Esther. She pleaded him in bed more than others in that particular period of time and he chose her as the next queen. She then used her position and masterfully manipulated the king to do her will. She would not have been able to do that if she didn't seeks God's favour and guidance. She was quite a cruel in her revenge as well. These are the facts from the story. All that romantic and righteous spin you're putting on it is simply your own fluff and your assumption that you have to embellish the truth.
