Everyone needs to bash Microsoft and eventually we might get Windows 7 back nobody is clearly liking the newer WindowsOS so why don't they respond are they ignoring us entirely?

My problem with Linux is that some drivers just simply aren’t compatible with the hardware you have. I’m talking video drivers, audio drivers, etc. I will say that things have come a long way in the last couple of years but it’s still not where it needs to be. I also don’t believe in trashing a computer just because it’s no longer compatible with the latest version of Windows so exploring options such as this is what I’m stuck doing.

This OS is visually beautiful and there's the added bonus that it isn't spying on you and running untrustworthy processes.

Everything your saying is true, but Microsoft has been violating our privacy more and more each version that comes out, every updates you get. Now, Microsoft is forcing people to open an account with Microsoft. Now Microsoft will be able to know exactly what you do, type say, view, surf, application install, which is most used, how you used them, oh, and the lists goes on. I used my system a lot, getting a new license and new software just so Microsoft can violate my privacy. Just yesterday, Amazon got charge 30M dollars for privacy violation with Alexa and ring. Amazon made more money on the selling of their customer privacy verses this 30M is chump change for Amazon or Facebook and Google, twitter. All these big giant are violating, making more money then the fines they get and will keep on doing something. There are more stupid people out there that will accept this and ruin our privacy privilege. All these people allowing this to happen and are fine with it, just encourage these large company to keep doing what they are doing.

If you install either Comodo or Avast, and you, on line with 'Moft upgrade to 10, upgrade your system to Win 10, will the Avast and / or Comodo also get updated from their website? Thank you 🤓

It's criminal Microsoft does end of support. The same security feature they apply in Windows 11 can be implemented in Windows 7 or other OS versions. They just want to make money.

I run win7 PE off of a read only usb drive. it has a hardware switch, that can change it to read/write. this only gets used when I want a different drive image.

Any hack only lasts until a system reboot.

I don't use it for mission critical or financial stuff.

I use it for the beautiful UI.

in my main system, I also have a sandboxed VM of full win7.

Some may ask, why are people still stubbornly using windows 7? I will give my reasons.
1. I have been using windows operating systems since windows 3.0 in 1992 so I have the full length of experience. The basic functionality (click on a icon and it runs something ... blah blah) really has not changed much since then.
2. Even though I'm 65, I still work as an embedded software engineer and my work laptop is windows 10 so I use it daily and can compare to earlier versions Since windows XP, I have seen little improvement in the issues and reliability in successive OS releases. Microsoft simply changes everything around (very annoying) but how you use the basic system is the same.
3. Playing videos, streaming, downloading and everything else works just as fast on my windows 7, 15 year old desktop computer as it does my work machine with the exception of software builds (because my work machine has 20+ cores which my home machine does not have!).
4. I actually find the changing of settings and control of windows 7 to be much more intuitive and easy than windows 10. For the latter, I must constantly search on google to see how to change something. Why did they redo everything?
5. The only downside I see is that increasingly, new software such as for filing taxes, won't install on windows 7.
6. As for security, I think the easy exploits have long ago been fixed on windows 7 and only hard ones might remain. Hackers are not going to waste time hacking win 7 anymore as the big score organizations use the latest windows. There is little on my machine that a hacker would even want and I don't use wifi, I use an ethernet cable to the router for security.
7. If microsoft would leave the UI alone (look and feel) in successive OS releases and just give me superior performance, reliability, better troubleshooting and better ways of configuring things then I'd be happy to buy a new OS. But just changing the "look and feel" without improving it (I see no improvement at all) does not justify an upgrade.
8. If the day comes that I cannot use windows 7 anymore then I will switch over to 100% use of my Ubuntu Linux machine for home use! I'm tired of dealing with the hassle of an upgrade only to find the same old problems.
I hope that helps people to understand. I'm sure many feel the same as I do.

Microsoft needs to with their operating systems bring them open source as soon as Microsoft official support ends so that the operating systems can be maintained and patched for those who don’t want to move on. The game developers like Steam should also still offer support

This is really a terrible showcase of misinformation. The MOST important thing you could do to a windows 7 install is keep it up to date with the business-exclusive update channel. Scaremongering that those patches "come from russia" while promoting Avast "security software" which harvests user data from a former soviet state is.... strange, to say the least.

"In late 2019, Avast browser extensions were found to collect user data, including browsing behavior and history, and send it to a remote server. The discovery led to the extensions of the Avast and AVG brands being temporarily removed from the Google Chrome, Firefox and Opera extension stores... In January 2020, a joint investigation by Motherboard and PCMag found that the Avast Antivirus and AVG AntiVirus Free version were collecting user data, which was being resold to personalize advertising through a subsidiary"

I couldn't get Avast to work with Windows 7, so since I program, I built my own antivirus using Cisco's antivirus toolkit, and today I got it to monitor continously in realtime, including what processes are doing in the background! Woo-hoo!

I still use Win 7 on one of my computers. However, I only use it off -line. On my main computer I'm using Windows 10 pro. Even though it can run Windows 11, I don't see any advantage to upgrading to 11 (plus I don't like it that much). Hopefully Windows 12 will be a more worthy upgrade.
