too much time was spent in the mental institution, there was no real lead up to that. Also, odd his brothers are nowhere to be found at the end. Sloppy, could've been great. The kid & the mother were excellent. It suffered do to poor directing, horrific sound (boom mic after boom mic kept appearing).

Classics like this is why I want to get into film making. I'm 32 yrs old, & I was born in 1990. As an original 90s kid, I can honestly say that I witnessed the last great decade of film, not be mistaken for "movies." The greatest movie today can't hold a candle to even the worse films of the 20th century. Hollywood went to crap in the 2000s. Movies today are pretty good, but they aren't great. They are way too predictable. Copy & paste.

Karen Young is such a good,underrated actress.

I have been curious about this film for over 30 years and finally saw it this morning. It reminded me of We Need To Talk About Kevin which covered a lot of the same themes.

Harley Cross was like the Jack Nicholson of child actors! One minute you want to kill "Dan" (or at least see him get arrested), the next you're almost rooting for him... ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

THIS IS MOVIE! NOT TODAY'S CRAP

This is one of my fav movies of all the time since I was just 13. It's so curious that it's TRULLY impossible to find a good quality copy of this movie. And why a SO limited release in 1991??? (just one time in USA I read, a very few times here in Spain and Germany and... maybe it is all??). So this is a really CULT movie. Juan José Campanella, POR FAVOR, deje ver su obra en buena calidad para los que la apreciamos desde hace tantos años!!

It was the first movie I saw when I moved to NYC in late 1991. It was playing at the Angelica and I chose it because of the weirdly provocative poster. I was a hayseed from Indiana and college in Florida, so I only had a small taste of indie films. I'm glad I chose this film...it has stayed with me since then and only now have I been able to see it again. Thx!!

Good film, they could have hid the mic better tho
