Nikon Z8 - How good is it for video?

If I owned one of these and used it for professional video, I would be annoyed that I couldn't record video to both cards at once. If a backup is important for photography, it's also important for videography.

My Olympus camera can do that.

Great job guys. In your view, how close is the video AF to Sony’s? Trying to figure which to go for out of this or the FX3. Also, what iso were you using in low light, and do you feel you struggled at night?

Hei Andy nice video and I have to say I like the creativity it took me back a few years when I was still a wedding photographer with 2 studios one in yes Narvik and Harstad. Shooting weddings outside was kind of like your walk in Oslo, where to next what background and angle. The z8 is clearly a beast but I'm currently waiting for the z6iii as the z8 is a bit out of my budget at the moment. Good luck with all your productions and just a heads up if I see you on a shoot in Oslo I'm going to say hei Doug :)

Great Video! But you need to stop using the IBIS stabilization. It sticks and looks jerky and amateur. You need to put weight on the camera and turn off IBIS, this will make it look more natural. If you want it stabilized use a gimbal. I hate IBIS for video with a passion, it only works well for photos.

Sorry, guys, your final footage editing ended up in breaking the video's main interaction images/song meaning link. The girl is saying she's so happy and, through your video, her reason why that is, being so happy, remains a mystery to me. One can see that you've spent a great deal of time going through tons of shots and, as far as choosing the most appealing ones, you did a great job but, unfortunately, by doing so, you missed the whole point of conveying to the viewers the emotion roots behind the song's lyrics. As as test footage for the Z8 it's fair enough and it would really work out fine if it was mute. Finally and, even more regretful, is the lack of uniformity throughout the successive footage running vis-a-vis the lighting, contrast and color grading. It's just a patchwork of ups and downs. In the old days of film we, the directors, told the laboratory technicians the precise tone, contrast and lighting we wanted to be applied to the whole picture and it worked out flawlessly. How come you cannot, at least pair it up that final yielding today with so much high end technological digital advances?

What brand and size of Cfexpress card gave the hot card warning?

Z9 is heavier ( hence better for stability) and no crappy overheating SD card, ( but I’m sure you know that).
I understand that one need to earn one’s living ( commercial propaganda helps) but as a professional Z9 user, I don’t particularly appreciate Nikon putting the R & D ressources into the marketing budget to sell a new camera when there are so many important things missing in the updates for the Z9 firmware, starting with the time code limitations, ( Canon did its firmware homework so that the R5C could be approved by Netflix), improving the NLog, ( for a better DR, like the V-Log, for instance), autofocus and a few other important tools for professionals …

Since the Z6 I just can't bring myself to choose nikon for video no matter what their tracking is usually awful, color is good but autofocus capability is always behind compared to canon and sony, maybe comparable to panasonic, but panasonic camera renders the best footages with the dynamic range capability which unmatch compared to sony and canon speically nikon. Nikon should be for Photography only in harsh condition environment, you guys should check out Morten hilmer on how he battle test nikon products with great expertise and insane scenarios.
