I’m having my first mri tomorrow
A bit scared so I’ve booked to see my doctor for a sedative to help 🙏 I have watched so many videos I guess I just want to ensure no matter what that I don’t panic while in there as I just want this scan completed

I’ve to wear my glasses, so I can see where I’m going to the mri exam room. Usually they let me put my glasses on counter. Then I walked where I’ve lay down for the mri.

To those commenters suggesting that(regardless of how soft the language is)you should just shut up and deal with it, I would like to say to you...claustrophobia, the fear of confined spaces, and cleithrophobia, the fear of being trapped are real, and as uncontrollable as a persons fight or flight response, or the reflexive hand movement from touching something hot. Some cleithrophobics can't even wear t-shirts, rings or watches because they feel trapped. If you were put in a casket and buried alive, would some breathing exercises prevent you from freaking out. To the claus/cleithrophobic that is exactly what being stuffed into a plastic tube feels like, and I am not simple minded enough to convince myself that I'm not stuffed in a plastic tube. So do me a favor, don't flinch the next time something startles you or don't feel the urge to yawn the next time you see or even hear someone yawn, then you can tell me how easy it is to ignore a response coming at you from your primal brain.

I didn’t get headphones during my MRI and I’ve had this horrible ringing in my ear for over 3 months now. I don’t know what to do and I’m devastated. Has anyone else experienced this issue and/or what should I do? My neurologist shared that it should go away in a few days but it has been months now. It’s hard for me to do anything 😢.

Had one of those needle in a vein for like later use and when they got around to that it hurt like hell lol, whole burning and stiffening sensation around my elbow and i had marks for months but that aside it was really cool and would do it again

Im going to go re attempt it again for the 3rd time. Im getting anxiety just thinking about it right now im scared again. If I fail again il have to go in open scanner instead

I had a fucking panic attack out of nowhere upon seeing the machine and now I have to do it under sedation:(

So I was terrified for 3 months to have an MRI on my leg. I went into their largest bore for the claustrophobic people like me lol it’s a slightly larger opening.
It was literally so much better than I imagined!! Don’t be scared.
Also it wasn’t loud at all with the ear plugs. My head was just out of the machine but I think even if I was inside, I would have been just fine. Just book the wider machine if they have one. Also I thought ahead and dressed without metal And they let me keep my clothes on and just had to put a gown over it. Good luck to anyone who has an MRI coming up! It’s really not that bad!!! I have had worse tests!!

Second mri and failed again , dissapointed in myself , cryed again lady offered me a eye sleep mask to wear that made me feel worst. SHE even tryed the scanner while i wasnt inside it to show me how far my head would be in the scanner and i freaked out. Told her sorry i cannot do this. Im scared now they cancelled my mri. And GP has to give me diazpam or something to calm me but i dont think thats gonna work either.

This machine is too good: I did my MRI in an outdated one, I think and without knowing what to expect. At the beginning it was fine, that, during the last 5-7 min I began to feel uncomfortable, anxious, almost panicked...good it was close to the end. It was not an experience I would like to do again...!

Is braces ok for MRI ?

I did it like I explained, below but I got bad news the doctor said I need to go in it again.. in 3 months time, only my lower spine was done before , my results came back no nerve damage. Which is great all normal they said But now they need to do my whole spine now , I wished they would have just done the whole spine before then I wouldn't be having to do it again, 🙄 like I said below the mri last time it was okay but it started moving up and I almost thought I'd be crushed because I thought the machine had malfunctioned with me in it, almost had a panick attack, at that point, everything else was fine the loud noises wasn't that bad. I wish they would have gave me music 🎶 to listen to thought. 👌 I was thinking about this tonight and almost had a panick attack at home 🏡 😅 I would much prefer an standing scanner not this type 😊

When you go for a MRI with contrast some of it remains in the brain! The operator of the MRI will tell you after to drink lots of water to pee it out! This isn’t true! A residual amount of contrast remains in the brain and enough of these will cause memory loss because the contrast keeps accumulating in your brain!
