How about the sub? That is where there are mixed opinions because some people have them eq'd while other don't. What's your take on it?

You need a calibrated mic for that and not just a smartphone. On an iPhone it might work because they have just a handful of versions and different mics, but apps on the play store just can't be calibrated for your mic.

Ok I need some help; My L/R eris 5s are connected to Studio 2i6's main out and I did everything Rick did, what should be the main knob level while calibrating? Initially I calibrated that setting all the way up to 0db. Was that right?

This guy omit to say that today there is no good music anymore like elvis presly, michael Jackson, tina turner, the beathles, pink Floyd, the bee gees, etc. So , i don't need costly studio monitors with costly complicated audio interfaces with 8 inputs. I then bought edifier s350db speakers set at only 300$ with digital inputs for my tv and computer audio where i listen for free pink Floyd, bee gees, elvis presly, michael Jackson, etc. I also listen my tv, so these interfave don't have tv. I can also stop to listen to this horrible audio mix that are just programmed distortion noises and they are no music. WE can all bet 20$ that no good music have been made on these audio studio monitors ever. If they say on which studio monitors pink Floyd the wall have been mix, than i will buy them today.

I just got a set of JBL 308 studio monitors. My question is what is the input Sensitivity?  Is it that... -10 is more power than +4?
It has a switch (-10/+4) Not sure what it dose? I plug in my Apple and cant hear much. I plug in from my mixers mains still not much. Using 1/4 jack, not 3 pin balanced. Thats another question is 3 pin louder than 1/4 TSR? and which is more power +4 or -10? Help

I'm also confused. Then what level should we be mixing at? surely not 80db? Thats way too loud. Don't over think this stuff people. I don't think theres a damn thing wrong with having both your monitors and interface at 12 o lock. I leave everything at 12 o clock, then use the master volume on the laptop to then control the volume higher or lower. There's no way i'm going to mix at 80db. Im also not going to mix with each track at 0db, when the sweet spot in DAWS to get the best sound from plugins is -18db.

80db you better wear some earplugs that's the equivalent to standing in front of a jet engine :) 15 minutes of that and you have permanent ear damage..! on a side note the mic in an iPhone is not accurate at all you need to use a studio mic with unidirectional polarity for perfect studio monitor calibration, your space should also be properly treated with sound absorbers and diffusers.

How do you calibrate your studio monitor with just using one monitor but in the same process you just showed and demonstrated

Run the pink noise at -20 and bring up the volume on monitors so the spl meter goes to 85-90.
then i do it again with my vocal track as close to -12db as possible hitting the spl meter at 85-90
I usually go with the vocal track measurement.

Have you considered the EQ response, in my opinion the most important thing to get right for the best audio reference? Maybe speaker volume is close to step 1, but the relative volume of every band is what's UP. I'm sticking to ringing out my speakers until I find a better way.

So that's it...forget about calibrating them to your ear and ears drums just to make sure one stay in the standards...come on what they teach u in those friking ingeneering schools..so tired of non sense at all levels.
Reference need a standard we don't have one to refer to...
Once we do..we must tune or calibrate the monitor..any monitor..
to the frequency response of our ears...yes..it vary...how to do that...ask this guy..he is a pro.

I want to match my Eris 4.5's to my Temblor T10. What do I need to use and do? Is there a video that explains how to do this?

I already have ideas as to what to do but I want to know what your instructions/suggestions are.

I originally put the Eris 5's in my cart but Sweetwater changed my order and sent the Eris 4.5's instead. The Eris 4.5's do not have a setting for unity gain. I might want Sweetwater to exchange the speakers but I want to see if I can find a way to make the Eris 4.5's work first. I am hoping to avoid the hassle of having to exchange the speakers if possible. They also originally sent the wrong cables. They did correct the cables part.
