Lewis is a very smart F1 driver. His timing to move from McLaren to Mercedes was impeccable. If Vettel comes back to F1 at Mercedes in 2025, then this surprise is perfect. Seeing Charles and Lewis teaming up against Max is a battle I like to see very much.

Lewis has just removed any pressure of his future contracts for the next three years, doesn't have anything to prove, doesn't have to worry about the 25/26 Mercedes and he'll get just the same support as George for this season (Merc aren't stupid), unless George whups his butt of course. Who knows, maybe he'll wrap up his 8th title having a low pressure fun filled carting type race season......then off to Ferrari as The Superchamp.

I haven't heard any of these pundits talk about it, but I've seen Lewis mention several times that there is something special about Ferrari and the history of the sport, he's said it's sad that he's unlikely to get to drive for them during his career. He's always been a Ferrari fan. For me, this is ticking that box and trying something new, rather than just fading in to retirement with Mercedes.

It aint gonna happen. I've been watching this (what used to be a) sport (until Li$erty turned it into theatre ) for over 50 years and all I'm reading is: IF's and Hopeium. Yes, him and Fred get along but after the '21 final I think that changed Lewis's psychology. YES, 100% he's a racer still but to me this is badge engineering. He'll finish his career with Ferrari on his CV, but no more champions.
