Very nice video Ed! Thank you for showing us this!
ОтветитьSome very good tips there Ed. Couldn't agree with you more. When I bought my tractor which is green in color I ordered it with a fiberglass canopy. Therefore I can't put my ROPS down unless I take the Canopy off. So, in the three years I've owned it, the ROPS have always been in the upright position. I live in West Virginia, the Mountain State, and I had a 4x4 tractor run off with me while mowing on a Steep hill about 20 plus years ago. Very scary, and I wouldn't want anybody to add this to their Bucket List of things to do. I was very lucky/Blessed as when I was scooting down the the hill i just missed a Concrete wall on a Dehy Plant for a gas company that was about 4' tall and 20' long at the foot of the hill. I narrowly missed this wall by inches. Thanks Ed for sharing your knowledge with us.
ОтветитьGreat job Ed! I could really tell a difference when you put those headphones on. 😂 Also, is it weird that I was trying to determine your camera setup from the shadow it cast on you. I definitely recognized that Rhode wireless go shadow. 👍
ОтветитьDo you think the tractor wood tip if you went parallel to the road?
ОтветитьI just ordered up some 2 1/2 inch bora wheel spacers because I was getting tired of the puckerd effect every slight slope or hole my wheel would go in. Can't wait!
ОтветитьAnother cool 😎 camera angle Ed👍 Hard to tell how steep the hill is I know it’s steeper than it looks on camera I can hear the RPMs drop as you we’re climbing it thanks for all the safety tips. 😁👍mowing season is almost here
ОтветитьGreat video, like your parallel mowing example
ОтветитьShort but good info. Also never turn around on a hill.
ОтветитьLike a dance...ballet...good one Ed 😂 great tips also 👍🏻
ОтветитьAnother great video and yes, it IS a great shot pointing backwards too!
Also, it's important to mention that the ROPS is only 1/2 of the safety equation, the other being the seat belt which keeps you inside the protection zone of the ROPS in the event of a roll-over. If you're thrown out of the seat the ROPS is as likely to crush you as save you. Buckle up!!! 👍👍
Great stuff, Ed, and well presented. How do you like the rear mower deck? I have a fairly hilly lot, and the belly mower is turning out to be troublesome. I like the way you can raise and lower the rear mower deck.
ОтветитьI noticed you don’t have a hand bolt I purchased at the dealer so your ROPS don’t vibrate. The nut is welded on the right side of the ROPS fits the threads perfectly. The Kubota comes with them from the factory on the BX models but not the B 2601. Thanks for the informational video! Wayne
ОтветитьAppreciate the data, good simple video. Great tips. Love the ballet. We use the same concepts in our ATV riding, never parallel or diagonal up or down, just straight up.
ОтветитьGreat video, Ed. Mowing up a grade in reverse is how I prefer also. Especially on the Ford 8n without 4 wheel drive. I don’t like when the front tires get light due to the mower or brush hog on the rear.
ОтветитьHi Ed! Great job on presenting great mowing tips! BTW, I think the video has great entertainment value too. Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьLOL, "ballet like"... keep dancing, Ed - just don't want to see you in a tutu, no offense (I'm just more of a Carhart kinda guy)! 😉
ОтветитьThanks Ed. A million years ago when I first learned to operate heavy machinery
my boss told me, "Kid, don't get in a hurry to get killed." Hey look, I'm still here.
I love your videos Ed. You have me cracking up, yet great information as well. I like that you gave the stats early on in this video. I know of several people that have been killed on tractors. 2 of them were people that I was pretty close to.
ОтветитьGood advice Ed. I have a really steep slope to mow( Not for a month or two though) I always try to to follow that advice. Take care my friend
Ответитьvery good information
ОтветитьGood morning Sir, I'm sorry that I miss some of your livestream's and video's but I have a good excuse ( I had to buy a new house last week ! ) Yes in deed the hearing protection are great for all you said and I do listen to music but not loader that the sound of the engine ! Yes in deed Sir ROPS are very important and using with the safety belt too is THE BEST combination protection that you have 🧐👍 Keep up your great sence of humor Sir is one of the many reasons that make you so good 👍😉 You should do a video of you cameras that you are using ? 😊 I realy like your floating mower deck dance move and again your sence of humor is a great moral booster Sir 👍😉🤣 Do NOT FORGET TO USE YOUSAFETY BELT IN Hill's Sir 😉👍 Great camera angle Sir 🧐👍 Cheers 🍻😊👍
ОтветитьI've got a video in the works where one of the test shows side mowing a ditch bank with a BX vs my old G1800. Spoiler, I won't do it with the BX.
Great Video Ed!
Even on a slight incline I feel like I am going to flip over.
ОтветитьGood video Ed👍
ОтветитьThat opening shot was sick! Stable, great audio, Focused on you with the background slightly out of focus, all while in motion! Nice work!
The parallel and perpendicular scene made me chuckle too.
Great info in the video!
Not sure but I could not see if you are wearing a seat belt...roll bar will kill you quick without the seat belt
ОтветитьI always take my FEL off its super easy and really changes your center of gravity mowing
ОтветитьThank you for the video
Very informative
If you are hitting tree branches with your ROPS, its time to trim the trees. If you have a tractor large enough to have a ROPS, you should have a pole saw handy to trim those low lying branches because most likely if those branches are hitting your ROPS, they're probably really close to hitting you in the head as well so trim those tree branches up out of the way and leave the ROPS alone.
ОтветитьGreat tips
ОтветитьDon’t forget to advise against using the seat belt when the ROPS deployed. Per manual!
ОтветитьGet you a set of Bora wheel spacers for the rear it will increase the stability like you cannot believe. Safety is very important.
ОтветитьVery important if you do tip your tractor after righting it DO NOT START IT for 24 hours. This lets the fluids that may be on top of the pistons leak back down. If you can remove the glow plugs and turn the motor by hand that would be best. You can do a lot of damage by starting it immediately after a rollover. Six things to remember, #1 set the tractor upright #2 remove the key from the tractor #3 change your underwear #4 grab a beer #5 wait till tomorrow #6 hope nobody saw ya shit yourself. PS Axle extensions are great for stabilizing on grades. Jeep extensions fit the BX series but you'll need to drill out the lug holes to 30mm so the socket can tighten the bolts. I found a 30mm bit on Amazon. Jeep extensions are $50 while tractor extensions are $175 -$200. The distance from the mid mower to the back wheels will determine the size of extensions you can use. I have a 54" deck so I used 1 1/2" extensions on each side. That's only 3" but it made quiet a difference on some serious grades. Jeep extensions may fit a B2601 also but IDK?
ОтветитьExcellent advice!!! It really doesn’t take much to get yourself in a jackpot !!!!!!!
ОтветитьThanks Ed. Perhaps as an added safety issue use Bora wheel spacers or similar products. It widens your wheel base. Merry Christmas.
ОтветитьGreat advice buddy
ОтветитьI get the demo, but is the hill in the video really too much to handle horizontally? I'm getting my first tractor in a few days and that hill doesn't look too bad. I don't want to over estimate what I can drive on!
Ответитьwhat was the slope of that hill, rise over run? it's hard to tell on a video.
ОтветитьI can't help but wonder why you do not back to the top of the hill with the mower up, drop the deck and mow down the slope. This puts added weight on the rear tires, you have a rear discharge mower that is intended to be pulled forward while mowing. It would seem that mowing while backing impacts the flow of grass from the deck.
ОтветитьYou said it's a dance.
Be care full what music you put on!
Great video. New tractor owner. Do you have a video showing how to install the rear finish mower on the tractor.
ОтветитьHe's funny
ОтветитьThat's an extremely narrow tractor. Mine has spinout rims out to 80 inches for greater stability. That particular "hill" may or may not cause me to change my mowing technique given the much wider stance. For a very steep hill, I might resort to a different machine altogether.
ОтветитьI'm not saying i would EVER listen to music while on a tractor, but i bought me a pair of those headphones
ОтветитьBest tip for mowing on a hill, remove the loader.
ОтветитьDidn’t mention wear your seat belt …absolutely essential with a ROPS
