I've always liked the scout troopers. Not only are they're armor badass. They just remind me of cavalry troops, or like the cowboys of space. Not to be mistaken with boba fett (Most badass space cowboy ever)

This story line has been done numerous times - I think the earliest was a British and French sailor on an island, then a ww2 movie, then Enemy Mine movie.

This is better story telling than most of the movies and television shows in the Star Wars universe.

I loved these extended universe stories. I remember a short story about a rebel soldier. I don't remember much about it, except his descriptions of fighting the empire and how hopeless it all was. The empire was better trained and funded, had better weapons and equipment, and being attacked by stormtroopers was basically a death sentence. They were much more accurate, insanely coordinated, and they danced circles around rebels. The worst part was that shooting them didn't usually kill them. They went into bacta and came out ready to fight again with all the experience of previous battles, whereas rebels just died. Most of their best and most experienced fighters were killed early in the rebellion, and they were so desperate. It was scary, and painted a totally different picture than happy go luck heroes winning the day because plot. The poor guy was devastated the entire story. If I remember right, he dies in the end. It was my least favorite story, but it had the biggest impact from those descriptions.

Most had short lifespans because of the accelerated aging process used on them. He was already in his twilight years and it was probably for the best he remained on Endor.
