Sniper Elite 5 - Before You Buy

pretty much what you'd expect (in a good way!) and the invasion mode is worth trying.

is this hitman engine ?

My biggest complaint is that they really did just give up on historical accuracy in this game, in the other ones the designs, locations, and for the most part weapons were spot on. In this game they basically just stopped caring about that, which to most people wouldn't matter

The upgrade system is much like Zombie Army 4 now which is a really fun game.

Karl is the protagonist that doesn’t get his due when talking about game series. He’s been hunting nazis for about 16 years. He definitely is a badass by all standards and I love that he’s just a man on a mission

I don't know what sniper elite I played before but an AI Nazi seeing all his comrades dead and still calmly proceeds with the his patrol really irritates me.

“Karl Fairburne” voice acting is nearly killing these games for me.
His desperately tough-guy persona is insanely annoying.

This doesn’t look much better than 4. I think the HUD on 4 is much better than the sharp more digital look of 5. After all it’s a WW2 game. Having a digital looking HUD like this just doesn’t immerse you in the game as much

I absolutely love all the sniper elite games. The only one I haven't tried yet is the very first produced for PC.

The gunplay is nice but the movement, especially interacting with ladders is kinda janky. They shoulda removed some of the assassins creed wall climbing and ladder stuff imo because they can't get the movement right.

V2 Silver Star edition rules. Couldn't get into 4. I grew tired of killing Italians in 3, and what did 4 add? Climbing. If I wanted to climb shit, I'd play Assassin's Creed.

I play this game daily, just played it a few hrs ago. And I played the 4th one for years too. Both r fantastic

Loved SE4, love playing SE5 so far too. Only one thing that bugs me a bit is that they removed grenade in-belt shots, which kinda confused me as they were such a fun and interesting mechanic in the previous game. Overall still my current favourite though.

I played the 3 a little bit but never got into it, but SE5 is a banger! I just love the big maps and the infiltration parts. You feel so much freedom and the game let you approach every objective as you like. One of the best 3rd person shooters/stealth game out there. I just can't stop playing it!

Important thing to note about multiplayer invasions is that it instantly saves your game when they enter and offers for you to reload there after the fight. So if you’re worried about it completely derailing your mission you do basically have a Time Machine

I feel the gameplay and mechanics are better in Sniper Elite 4. I have played and completed both games, and I found that Sniper Elite 5 was missing some key mechanics. I found that most annoyingly, the ability to crouch and run at the same time was removed. This for me is a really important part of Sniper Elite 4. I also find that the variety of gadgets is lacking. I like the fact that in Sniper Elite 4 There were A large range of different mines and sneaky devices.
I found that the Weapon modifications in Sniper Elite 5 were good, to an extent, however it seemed very random. Collecting these items was not purposeful, it just mattered if you happen to search the right body but you didn’t know which body that was.
The graphics have improved in Sniper Elite 5, but not enough since the previous version. I found that I really wanted to play Sniper Elite 4 again and again, but I did not necessarily want to keep playing Sniper Elite 5.
I also found the slow motion animations, were truly lacking. In Sniper Elite 4 One could really see where the bullet entered, what part of the body was damaged, and where the exit wound was. However, I found that in Sniper Elite 5, these animations were clunky, and in some cases the bullets didn’t even enter the body of the shot person. I also found that the bodies ragdolled more often than they should have.
I hope that some of these issues will be updated, at some point.
One other thing that really frustrates me, is that in Sniper Elite 4, if you need a satchel explosive, you have them already. You don’t have to go searching for them. If you wanted to blow up a tank, you don’t have to have a satchel explosives, you could find other ways of doing it. If you wanted to blow up a anti-aircraft gun, you could do it with TNT, but now you can’t. I feel this really takes away from the emersion. I also find that the fact that you have to search for a crowbar, or bolt cutters, in every level, is really frustrating. Perhaps in the first level, then surely this experience sniper would take this kind of thing with him. Rather than having to search every time. Things like this take away from the immersion and enjoyment of the game.

Four was my first game in the series my cousin got me into it and I loved 4 and when me and him got 5 we loved it way more

Playing Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate edition after finished campaign and all dlc extra missions on Sniper Elite V2 Remastered.
After 3 to 4 and finally 5. I just hope when i get there 5 still is in Game Pass.
Loving the games, the concept.
For a guy that reads and see everything about WWII this games are amazing especially playing in Xbox series X.

I loved sniper elite 4, played it on the PS4, fittingly. I only managed to max out the Welrod, the Webley revolver, the Thompson, the MP43, the springfield and the Lee-Enfield before I stopped playing the game.

After looking at the video and having a little experience in real life i just started to think and think. and my question is why arent any PS5 games that help save lives and BUILD STUFF MAKE THINGS BETTER FOR ALL OF us. because the people who took the time to put this game together could have easily put other types of more constructive games together for our kids.

Just bought this game on Steam. Will play after installing.

I’ve always been a fan of games that add strategic elements & other factors which is why I love series like Valkyria Chronicles.. I haven’t played this one yet but I’m getting my feet wet with the earlier entries..

I guess the possibilities are endless for this franchise.. They can implement so many scenarios you know

Can you disable the ability that allows other players to join your game to hunt you?

Ngl it more like melee elite 5 until you get the good suppressors cuz the noise the gun makes makes it basically impossible for you to shoot anyone without alerting the whole map even on the easiest difficulty

But to be fair this is coming from somebody who played the entire SE4 campaign with a silenced rifle "De liste carbine" so don't take this comment like everyone is like this

I'm loving the game, but at the same time, I'm kinda pissed that the M1 Garand ain't in it.

I've played 1 through 4 and beat them all on sniper elite difficulty, great series.

Who can help with getting online game play to connect. I cannot connect.

Some of the most enjoyable games I've played were found years after they came out.
I found the Sniper Elite series when I upgraded my PS plus a couple of months ago. This is after finally getting a PS5 in January of 2023
Finished everything they put out for part 4 finished everything they put out for part 5 halfway through part 3 and going to purchase the remastered V-2.
This series hits all the things that I like in a stealth shooter.
My only complaint is 2 of my Co-Op team cannot play with the other 2 of us, at least in the campaign mode.

totally considewring buying the game after this vid because 4 was already really fun but i wasn´t sure if 5 was gonaa be as fun sso now im likw 99% sure im getting the game so thnx for the great vid

I hate the spy academy mission

I am playing the game on PS5 without watching any review. After 3 missions i still don't know exactly what i'am playing. Despite slow tempo it's intense. My favorite WW2 fps. Great game.

So would this be considered stealth action? Like if something goes wrong and you need to shoot your way out of it, is it too terribly difficult to adapt and survive with success?

Loved this game. Specially "Spy Academy". It reminded me so much of Commandos II. Almost like a next gen, 1st person take on the Commandos franchise.

Would have been nice on what to do with the rat bomb.
