3 Things I Like and Dislike About The New 2021 ROLEX Explorer 36mm

I just love this watch and enjoy it on my 7 inch wrist

I had one in hand once and I didn’t even notice the distortion. I guess that’s from the hands reflecting onto the dial?

Nice review. I find it funny that so many people complain about the19mm lug width because they can't use their 20mm NATO straps. You do realize that 19mm NATOs are easy to get and are dirt cheap. Other 19mm straps are easy to find too. Seems like a non-issue.

Is the lume really that bad? Love this watch. It might be a bit too small for my wrist but I’m still willing to go for it (if I can get it). The simplicity and readability of the dial is what I love the most. The distortion you mention doesn’t sound good though. Thanks for the video. 👍🏼

Interesting take. I feel smaller lug width makes dial actually look bigger than size suggests. I totally agree regarding short minute hand! Thanks for the video

The easylink adjustment is probably my favourite feature. You can extend the 5mm without having to take off the watch.

I just wished that Rolex would cut down on the overkill of text on the dial on the Submariners and Explorers. The dial would look so much cleaner without it.

I never noticed the distortion and kind of still can’t. I’d rather not ha!

I feel the lume is good. But reading the comments i can see others have said it’s not great.

I’ll keep looking for it but i’ve just been on some nice trips in caves and on mountains and the lume was great all the way through.

There are plenty of strap brands that offer 19mm sizes. Hodinkee offers their straps in 19mm

Interesting comment on the 3-6-9 lume application. I too have a 124270 and the Arabic numerals glow like a torch. It is one of the things I love about my Explorer.

Lovely watch...even with all the negatives you mentioned I still think the explorer is the best one-watch collection.

Agree with all of this with the exception of the minute hand issue. The distortion, I really dont know what that is about. The lume is poor it has to be said. I was actually really surprised as the online review raved about the new lume on the exp...but when I got it I thought...this isnt very good at all. Despite this I still love it.

Thanks for sharing. My least favourite aspect is the minute hand and I prefer the ones on the BB more since they reach the minute track precisely. I own a BB36 in black and have been tempted to get the Explorer. Now I think I'd rather get something different.

I agree with you that the case profile is well designed that it actually makes it super comfy to wear - cant even bother changing out the bracelet. IMO they actually wanted to make the watch case appears bigger with the 19mm vs the 14270 20mm lug width which gives it's a straighter look which made the case appear smaller.

Love your short concise video btw. Keep it up and I think your channel is gonna explode with better videography!
