hmm i took the bowl of rice as your life and you choose how to flavour it or what ingredients you want to add to it, how to make it more suitable to your unique taste buds, the way of living as you desire it and work towards it.

I wish I could agree with the philosophy.
A job has a lot more riding on it than a meal. It's the ability to stay on your feet. It's very difficult to get back up when you have nothing.
At least in America, I can't just quit my job and go start a new or related profession from the ground-up just because I'm a bit smart and committed. The reality is this cannot be transposed across countries where you will be thrown to the streets or prison over money.

It's a heartwarming idea, but that's about as far as this philosophy can go in my eyes.

I really have a hard time with this one as corporate sees people less and less like human beings, when it doesn’t matter how well you do or how hard you work because they don’t value you at all. And not just jobs, but the ones that control whether or not you get shelter. It’s hard to see wisdom these days in one of those answers as it leads to just accepting the abuse.

Things like this irritate me, after you realize that the answer is deliberately vague and ultimately only a hint, it makes the answer you come up with seem less convincing (at least to me).

These guys went on their path b/c they felt certain that the sage told them that path was the right path, if they knew that the path was actually all their own, would they still have had the strength of will to follow it? Since they felt the need to reach out to the sage in the first place, I kinda doubt it (though that is only my interpretation).

So the story feels more like he tricked them into being happy, rather than told them the secret... Which does sound pretty taoist (as I understand it anyway)...

The sage was fvking with them. Who knows what lies ahead? Only by trying different things we can truly know what we want and what we need in our lives.

The pace of this video is almost tolerable at double the speed...

You know it’s funny I find myself wondering whether I should work with people associated with my moms business OR get away from home ASAP hopefully with a relocation job.
And what’s even funnier is she actually cooked dinner and as soon as I saw what was on the table I hesitated, it had become clear to me now (after eating cooked food from an older lady at a shared house when I only had instant noodles myself) what my problem with my mums cooking was.
It looked like it tasted like stress and neglect.

And so I simply ate the rice on my plate for dinner.

I will choose to not make decisions that come from a place of stress and fear. The traumatised/scarcity/losers mindset. But to go into the unknown bravely. Everything I’ve ever thought of doing was to reduce the stress in the world but I sinned to the smallest degree because that idea came from a place of inherited stress as well.

I’ve always had a sneaking suspicion that despite my best intentions I was slightly off in my aim and that I couldn’t be trusted as a result. The Devil’s in The Detail’s and so instead of worrying about getting everything right and done perfectly (to avoid being scolded and denied validation) I can roll with the punches knowing my aim is finally true.
