I just was told that the Bolt EUV has a smaller trunk compared to the EV model! It takes around 7 times more on a 110 than a 220.

If it was impossible or too expensive to get a 220 circuit, I would want to add a dedicated 20 amp 120v circuit, turn up the charging amperage in the Bolt's mernu.

I added an outlet to my garage, I had an electrician put in a subpanel for that and other power uses. Once installed the Chevy supplied charger showed a ground issue. I rechecked everything and it was fine. Turns out the level two adapter was not firmly seated in the charger housing. I removed and replaced it and all was well. Just an FYI for the Chevy charger users.

Thank you for your thorough review, it was very helpful! But just had a question…GM gave us the portable level 1/2 charger for our Lyriq and we are getting the 240V outlet installed. Can we use this portable charger as level 2? Or do we need to purchase another charger?? Thanks in advance.

It took me a week after submitting online for installation. Pretty easy process and took the installer a bi5 over 2 hrs. I have heard you can run into out of pocket if your breaker box does not have space or capacity.

Very disappointed with Qmerit. I got one bid gor $3.5K which seemed really high and have gotten no 2nd bids despite reaching out to Qmerit many times. BTW, there are constraints if your house has only 100A coming and and not 200A.

We recently took delivery of a Bolt EUV Premier. About 18 months ago we had solar panels installed to include the extra panels for charging a EV or RV. I was aware of GM offer to install the level 2 charge access. We decided instead to go with the local installer who charged less then what GM was offering. He tapped into the solar inverter, ran conduit along the garage door walls and added outlets on the walls.

I already have a 220 Volt outlet in my gargae and the Bolt would be my choice of EV's, but my wife isn't sold on the idea. My only concern would be the range. We live in Ohio where we have cold weather and my wife;s cancer treatments are about 80 miles away. That means I have to be able to travel at least 160 miles even in the coldest months on a charge. I know I could stop along the way to recharge but that would be inconvient. I would want to go to her treatment and back home on a single "home" charge. But during the cold months when you need the heater, lights and maybe wipers going I don't know if that is possible. What do you think?

I have a 70+ year old home with a detached garage. I bet my install will be over $3,000 because I'll need a new subpanel. I think I'll get a quote from a local electrician first; for comparison.

If you're breaker box was already in your garage the install would be free. The only times where you have the allowances of coverage is if your breaker box is located in a "non standard" location. Which I believe is of you want/need the outlet installed more than 6-10ft from the breaker box. So if where you want your 240v outlet installed in near your breaker 100% free. If it's located away from where you plan on marking then expect to possibly pay some money out of pocket.

Nice video! I just got my '23 Bolt EUV last week and I can't wait for QMerit to install my 240v outlet. Question>> Does it make a difference if I buy and use what the ChargePoint Home Flex has compare to Chevy's included charger in terms of how much kilowatt will the car receive? Your reply would be very appreciated!

We have a great associate at Sunshine Chevrolet in Asheville. I loved the whole idea of going EV so when my wife loved the Silver Flare Metallic so we wrote the deposit for $1000. So now the reality, where do I plug it in at home. We do have the breaker box in the garage so it should be easier than yours but I’d like to be able to plug it in outside in the driveway so I’ll ask about that. Meanwhile you did answer some questions I had about just plugging it into a 120, doable but just takes a long time. So, thanks to your video, I still feel confident and optimistic that we made the right choice. I’ve been trading Hondas for almost 40 years. Between Accords, CRV’s and I’m trading in our FIT we’ve had at least a dozen so we’re switching brands as well but I’m excited about going EV with Chevy I’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks again for all your work!

I got 2023 Chevy Bold EUV and I got a Qmerit quote for $2266 and in that GM cover $1250 and I have to pay $1016. Ridiculous. Getting a quote from local electrician. It may be less than $1000.

The video was helpful in getting more information on this since I'm about to buy a EUV. But does this only work inside a garage? Because it would not work at my house with my detached garage. So was wondering if they are able to do an outdoor installation by my outdoor panel. Thanks.

Qmerit came at me with an estimate of $1650 meaning I would need to pay $650 out of my pocket. I declined the estimate. My outlet needs to be literally next to my breaker panel in the garage. It couldn’t be any easier. Qmerit told me that was the one and only estimate I would receive. I tried to instead get the $500 public charging deal and was informed by the dealership that I couldn’t change it. Love the car but so far dealing with this has been a mess.

I just purchased a 2022 Bolt EUV and my bolt has the software update that only allows me to get 80% charge. I’m curious is yours is the same. It’s killing my long distance trips. Let alone I’m not able to meet the estimated EPA est of 247 miles. Even when I’m getting better than epa estimates of 4.6 kWh when epa says it gets 3.44

My experience was not a good one with the so called free level 2 charger installation. Of course you are not getting a charger or the charger switch as they come with the car already, you are simply getting a 240 volt receptacle installation. The quote I got from the Qmerit referred electrician was $1565.00 for a 50 amp breaker about 25 foot of cable and a 50 amp receptacle. This along with the installation cost could be done for much less than the estimate mentioned above. I was told I would be responsible for the $565.00 that exceeded the $1000.00 credit from Chevrolet. I declined the estimate and got the complete installation materials and labor for less than $500.00 from a licensed electrician so go figure.
