Swan Lake - Olga Smirnova, Jacopo Tissi

this has to be the most unique stage production of swan lake i have seen ... the tapestry effect of the backdrop also feels like brush stroke effects of modern abstract paintings ... the costumes of the court in the back look fauvist, like ruault ... the bold colors of the soloists look like it is from a different pallette ... AND the squiggly ornaments stuck on their tutu's : like the litte creatures from a miro or paul klee painting ... i know the color on screen could be off, but still it looks amazing ...

I remember there's a bolshoi production of the sleeping beauty, where the forest backdrop looks like a turner painting ... too bad the bolshoi don't use that stage anymore, it is far superior than the that horrible can't move anywhere castle they have lately

Who plays the evil genius Lord Rathbart in this? It's also sad that Jacopo Tissi is no longer part of the Bolshoi anymore. I hope that Russia and Ukraine will sue for peace ASAP! I don't take sides here, but I felt that NATO was in the wrong for being the agressor.

I like this Swan Lake version of the Bolshoi Theater, it improves the audience's understanding of the plot and deepens the expressiveness of ballet art.

Tisi did two strange lifts on the sissonnes in the adagio. Smirnova seemed really out of balance. He is young. They are both beautiful, and she has a natural ethereal aura.

This production of Swan Lake must be exhausting to dance — two Odile pas de deux with variation and coda and then just ten minutes later, back as Odette for the last act. Smirnova’s stamina is incredible.

Smirnova is a machine. Those fouettes were great. Her whole performance was so solid. So glad she has found freedom outside of Russia at the Dutch Ballet and can continue her brilliant career.

When I was a little girl, I went to watch the Swan Lake ballet with my dad after watching the Swan Lake Barbie movie.
Now, about ten years or so later, Black Swan brought me back here😉
