Free Ranging Ducks - Training your DUCKS to come when you QUACK!

I just wanted to thank you for sharing your wisdom with us all I am using this method and it works very well. I free range our ducks at the pond and thank to all the advice I got from you the ducks are very happy and so am I godbless you and be well.

Great video man! Very succinct. I like how you say to "let the ducks express their duckness". Important to give your animals/livestock a good life. Whether raising for eggs or meat. They should have a god time.

love your vids, and am just about to order my khaki campbell ducklings. I have some questions, hope you can help (it helps that you have a pond!); how large is your pond? how many ducks do you have? do the ducks eat the duckweed (green stuff floating on the pond)? do the ducks hurt the pond by adding too much nitrogen, or digging into the sides? do you limit their time in the pond? I would like to free range for the most part, will get the electric fencing for the rest of the time. i'm in S/W Florida. really looking forward to your reply...thank you in advance!

How do you protect them from owls and other raptors?

Do you clip there wings so the don't fly or how do you deal with that?

I'm surprised you didn't point out one of the main advantages of free ranging by day and safety containment at night is.... It reduces your feed costs.

Very Informative,but how do you get scared ducks to listen to you?I can not let mines out of their duck pen because of them being so scared.

YES! When my ducks are small I peep.peep.peep when I feed/water them. When they are older I also peep at them when I feed. So anywhere I am on the farm if I don't see the ducks or hear them or I find bugs or want them to come into the coop I will peep.peep.peep and they will answer and come running.
I also use the same bucket to feed so when they see me with that bucket they go right into their coop. Happy Homesteading! ~Shaina~

Do you have any issues with the ducks making the big pond dirty? I'm wondering if a pond would need to have some kind of filtration/cleaning system in it, since ducks make such a mess in water.

I have a male and female fawn Indian runners and a female Peking and Khaki Campbell. (Along with guineas cats dogs chickens etc)They have free reign on our 3 acre fenced yard. We have a small pond and a few places where they can shelter themselves if need but they either sleep on the pond dam or on the water. Rain or shine. My first year for having ducks so do I need to be pining them up at night?

Does the pond have to be clear and clean? My pond has a muddy bottom and is the same color as your pond. Like do they need a filter in their pond.

Hi, is it recommended that I make my ducks come back to their “home” (cage) at night even though they dont usually go very far from it at all? They always stay with 6-8 feet from the cage... Should i be worried that one day theyd never come back?

You should get rid of some males, they are too many,1 or 2 males are enought.
