I think that is so cool. Just imagine the synchronization and harmony that cam can bring to at least 27 different points of function of off simple rotary motion. I know it was just to be cool and I bet dude can make some insane things. But I would love to see something like than hand built to top 1% precision. "edit" Just to be clear, this was awesome. Hats off bro.

so what? what is its purpose and what is it used for?

So many old craftsmen making comments they never thought about this after a life using a lathe. How come you never thought about moving the center point using a lathe ? That's the very first thing you need to understand and the only concept about it except spinning.

Not saying it's easy to get such a good shape though, but the concept even a teenager who never touched a lathe could figure out and understand.

This is outrageously beautiful. I would have inverted the patter once I reached the middle (the concentric "journal" in the middle) so it's simmetrical but that's just my OCD lol.
