In the midst of the lively atmosphere at RAGAMALIKA 2K22 Mini Arts, hosted on January 8, 2022, at Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College, a story unfolds—a tale woven with threads of hope and disappointment. This event not only marked the inception of the college's Mini Arts festival but also celebrated the unveiling of our newly constructed auditorium to students.
Amidst this backdrop, I found myself traversing the final leg of my undergraduate homoeopathy journey, fueled by a deep-seated desire to leave behind a legacy that would endure beyond my graduation. The seed of an idea to establish a media team took root within me, and through numerous negotiations and meetings, I managed to secure the necessary approvals to launch the official SKHMC Media Team.
Our inaugural project, a video encapsulating the spirit of our institution, was a labor of love. However, our journey was not without its obstacles. The ever-present challenges posed by COVID restrictions and outdated social media policies enforced by the college administration posed significant hurdles. Despite meticulous planning, our efforts to share our creation were met with resistance, and the video remained unpublished—a casualty of bureaucratic red tape.
Faced with the temptation to circumvent authority and release the video independently, I made the conscious decision to honor the directives of my superiors. Yet, the promise of eventual publication, once eagerly anticipated, now hangs precariously in the balance. Countless hours were dedicated to editing, accompanied by a substantial financial investment. Despite warnings from well-meaning colleagues about the timing of such endeavors amidst final year preparations, I pressed on, fueled by the vision of establishing a lasting media presence for our college.
Despite setbacks and unfulfilled promises, a glimmer of hope persists. The dream of a thriving media team, nurtured with unwavering dedication and passion, remains steadfast within me. Though met with disrespect and disregard by those in positions of authority, I refuse to relinquish the belief that our efforts will one day be recognized and celebrated. As the curtains draw closed on this chapter of disappointment, I cling to the hope of a brighter future, where our endeavors will be acknowledged and embraced.
Now, after much deliberation, I've decided to share our creation anyway. It's my way of making amends to the performers who begged for its release and proving that our efforts weren't in vain. This might be my first dive into arts event coverage, but it's a labor of love—one that I hope resonates with my dear juniors.
With love,
Aghosh B Prasad
