ASUS TUF RTX 3060 v2 Vs. GTX 1080 - The BEST Value Gaming Card is?

My NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (ASUS) in nvidea panel shows no option to set refresh rate,& in windows grafx settings it wont show over 60 refresh rate

i bought this card specifically to have 120 refresh rate

Was i ripped off by being told this card will get me the 120 i am after?

If not,where do i set it to 120?

My system specs are below

The PC store knew all my specs and still sold me this card telling me i would get the 120

My TV is an LG G3 and it def does 120,because on PS5 i was gaming in 4k at 120 today for hours

I rock 3 GTX1080Tis at home, no intention to "upgrade".

Fast forward to August of 2023, I'm seeing GTX 1080's on Ebay for only $100 or so, so the 3060 is a tough sell now.

Just bought a new Zotac twin edge oc 3060 v2 12gb for $274 US on Amazon with a 20% Prime Day sale discount. Not bad for my kid's 1080p gaming. Thanks for this video from 2 years ago for helping me decide.

I got an setup built as followed:

Asus H81M-C/CSM Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
ZOTAC NVIDIA GTX1050 2GB
8GB DDR3 RAM
850W Power Supply

And I was looking for an upgrade for gaming and to use some programs like AutoCad. I ran an "bottleneck calculator" and it showed that my gpu is to weak for my cpu and it gave me more than 30% of bottleneck between this 2 components. Is a good option to look for better gpus like a RTX2060/70 or something more expensive like a RTX3060? Or is an better option to spend a little more money in upgrading the cpu and motherboard aswell as the gpu for this application? And is there a certain way to know if any of the GPU´s mentioned before are compatible with my current setup?

I still have a Asus ROG 1080 paired with a 7700k OC'ed at 5Ghz since 2016. I haven't made a single upgrade since, except buying a 1080p 240hz gsync monitor. I have played every AAA title since, without a hitch.

i already have a 1080, would it be worth to get a 3060? is it enough of an upgrade or should i get a bigger upgrade a bit later.

I stopped buy Asus gear a few years back allset with paying 20%-30% more for a hardware because its says Asus on it. from 2000 -2018 all I used was asus hardware so that tells you right there how much their greed has turned me off not doing it anymore. I just use Asrock now great hardware at great price so far no problems at all.

i have both... 1080 in desktop 3060 in laptop... 3060 in laptop is little more powerfull.. but stable gaming is at 1080.... (lenovo legion 5 pro 130w 3060 6gb)... 6gb is rly loo much low for this GPU

And in August 2022 I bought 3 high tier GTX1080 for $340. Perfect affordable upgrades with plenty of raw performance for the family.

For how cheap these old 10 series flagship cards are getting it's amazing how well they perform.

If you can miraculously snipe a 1080Ti (like from a friend or a prebuilt PC) for under 3060 MSRP, pick that. It’s slightly better but doesn’t have ray tracing or dlls. I’ve had a 1080Ti for years until I upgraded to a 3080Ti but even then a 1080Ti narrowly beats the 3060Ti in raw performance and good luck getting either of those these days. Good video though.

Some ppl might argue that DLSS is the main selling point of the RTX series, but with AMD of all ppl literally giving the 10xx series FSR 2.0. They're keeping this old beast of a series another lease on life

I bought a GTX 1080 like 2-3 years after launch and it was really a beast even at 1440p. Now i own a RTX 3060 and sure it is better and a great card but it just doesnt feel like what the 1080 made me feel then. Maybe because the 3060 isnt a 3080 not even close but im still happy to own it.

With these prices and my 1440p monitor, I think I’ll stick to my 1080 GTX a little longer.

I had to upgrade last year - I was lucky to get a 1080Ti for £400 in the UK. All of the RTX20's & 30's were unobtainable or £1300+ It's been a superb purchase, it runs stock and delivers the goods at 1080p. The GPU market can do what it likes, I'll be keeping my 1080Ti for a few more years to come.

GTX 1080 TI, would work even better than this 1090 normal, we all love the biggest graphic ANOMALY, it has 3 GB more @11GB 3584 CUDA CORES, it realy is a beast it has 35% over 1080, and 30%, even if we go down at 25% more is a must. But 3060ti is better than 1080ti, just like it is with normal 1080 and normal 3060 and, while 3060 they fucked up, cause if someone have 1080ti they dont need to buy it, 1080ti is still STRONG!! I just tested 3060 12GB vs. 1080Ti 11GB and it is all over the place at 1440p some games are 2-4 fps on 3060 advantage and more games are from 5-15 frames in favor of 1080Ti, @ 4k every single game was for 1080Ti but 1-4 frames only, few were identical, which suprised me.... Anyway 1080TI is still the KING RDR2 was solid 5FPS in favor of 3060, but that means nothing in scope of all things, they botched with this one.... And it feels like 20** series dont count, and they are anouncing 40** series, ONLY AN IDIOT WOULD GO AND SPEND MONEY ON THINGS YOU DONT NEED.... They are making a mess on Graphic market.... It would be very NICE, if there would be graphic cards that MUST be used for gaming, like there is a BLOCKADE on blockchain mining!! If you go and mine, the rig hit with the message, that it is impossible to work with that graphic card... MINING CARDS on one and on the other side GAMING CARDS..... That would be stelar!!

I bought a gtx 1080 a month ago, because my gtx 1060 died. But the price was insane, 400e (650aus$).
The 3060 was an option, but not a good for 1400aus$.

As a former RX 580 user I am very happy with the 3060 in 1440p. I managed to overclock it a stable clock where it matches 2070S performance in most games.
The difference to the 580 is like day and night

I currently have a Zotac 1080ti. Recently, I won the Newegg shuffle and got a 3060ti. To my surprise the 1080ti smokes the new 3060ti by about 20 - 30 frames in Unigin, it also out performs the 3060ti in EVREY game I have. My son has a 3070ti and as it turns out, my 1080ti also beats the 3070ti by a small margin in Unigin. It doesn't beat the 3070ti in all games but when it does lose out, it's by a SMALL margin. IMO, don't upgrade unless it's a 3080 and you want to spend a small fortune. Keep your 1080ti!

More market value for newer cards. Easier to sell in a future while the 1080 will be old

At this point These Company itself makes me wanna quit PC gaming. PC parts prices skyrocketed here in Asia like a pre owned-car.

As I'm living in a poor EU country and I need to pay all their taxes, the market goes like that - 1080 is selling for 500 Euro, 1070 ti for 425 Euro (today I'm going to test and buy one) and 3060 sells new for 750 - 1000 Euro, which is insane...

The best value card is whatever you can get your hands on and not paying 2-3 grand. In other words, nothing.

1080 isn't a value gaming card.

You know, even the miners, transportation, and semiconductor issues don't explain the gouging we're getting. I'm more pissed at Nvidia and AMD... these prices are nuts ant retail pricing means NOTHING. I'm going to make the best of my 2080tis and not going to support anything newer for a while.

I have a MSI duke 1080ti and I can run any game at 1440p on ultra and cyberpunk at 1440p high settings and it never drops below 60fps

I love my water cooled, overclocked and overvolted GTX 1080. Had it for years, stable as hell, plays the latest games well and in no rush to upgrade till the 4000 series cards arrive.
