I honestly hate the new Peter Parker face especially the new MJ face. It’s why I’m not buying any of Insomniac’s Spider-Man game. I rather would just watch videos of someone playing the story of the game than me wasting my precious money on something I despise.

Story and gameplay is a 10/10.

The character designs is just trash for me. I honestly can’t play a game that has poor trash character design.

Spider-man is probably one the main superheroes that absolutely does not need a car. It would slow him down severely 😂

I want that concept suit in Spider Man 2, they could integrate it into the story as a stopgap measure or as a suit for Miles.

I personally think Otto was always like this and it wasn’t until the bomb attack that he became inspired. I think that’s the point of the hallucination sequence and Peter’s revisit. Otto was scheming and there were red flags indicating this, but Peter’s hero worship blinded him from them. I think the whole “arms COULD affect his personality” was a misdirect to make it initially feel it’s doing the same thing as Spider-Man 2 before that part. At least my take on it.

I still am not a fan of the remastered look of Peter Parker as it looks too much like the Tom Holland actor that plays him. I rather have different styles of Peter to showcase the different looks he had over the years.

I find it funny they had Stan say Peter and MJ were his favorites, eventhough he has said he felt Gwen was the best love interest to Peter, mainly because he based her off of his own wife

The obsession with giving every character “agency” in stories is so odd to me since we actually have very little of it in reality. Making everyone into these tough go getters doesn’t automatically make them more interesting. You can write a complex grounded woman like Mary Jane who’s also saved by the hero without it taking away from her character. For example I think Raimi’s take on Mary Jane gets a bad rep from people who haven’t really thought through it and I think this 2018 game arguably turns her into a dull discount Lois Lane—as other have already pointed out. People only dislike Dunst’s MJ beyond the reductive moralistic “damsel in distress” critiques because she has realistic issues with Peter’s behavior and acts accordingly. She’s a grounded portrayal of a woman with believable desires and dreams. I’ve met people like her. It’s not an inherent “positive” to shift away from her supposedly “shallow” supermodel comic counterpart or “damsel” movie version. She’s way more than that in both of those incarnations and I find this “correction” ironically way more simplistic than anything they were correcting for.

As much as I love that final scene between Peter and Octavius, the emotions on the former face of Peter was so much better than the current one. The current one is more stiff in my opinion and kind of took away from the scene for me.

Absolutely phenomenal game that truly characterizes the next wave of Spider-Man. Some of the side activities can begin to get tedious, but most give some tidbit of world-building. Can't wait for the second part!
