This eu4 1.30 sweden guide shows the starting moves needed to break free from eu4 1.30 denmark. It also talks about the expansion into eu4 1.30 norway and eu4 1.30 novgorod, as well as expanding into eu4 1.30 livonian order lands and eu4 1.30 musocwy. Breaking away from the EU4 Personal Union system in place with Denmark will be a Challenge, but EU4 personal union challenges are what makes this game a lot of fun, and yes, I basically wrote all this for the SEO, deal with is lel.

The EU4 1.30 Emperor DLC adds a lot of flavor and new mechanics to the game, such as the new eu4 1.30 mercenary or eu4 1.30 mercenaries rework, eu4 1.30 catholic faith reword, eu4 1.30 hussite faith, eu4 1.30 estates mechanics, eu4 1.30 hungary trade node and eu4 1.30 valencia trade node, that split the genoa trade node in half.

With the new Sweden update, time for a revisit. Pretty much everything from the opening on this has changed.

This doesn´t work for me. I´ve tried countless times doing EXACTLY as you descibe. no matter how many gallys i create i cannot block the danish armys on gotland, i can´t manage to win a single navy battle with all of denmarks allies. what am i doing wrong? they just reinforce all the time. i´m new to the game btw with like 10 hours

Things i noticed:
You could buy all the stuff you needed with 1 loan, I had to take two
Denmark had one ally fighting in your game, they had three in mine
I had the same amount of ships as you, your ships just fought better for some reason
I couldn't ask other nations for support (stupid dlc that should be base game)
I couldn't walk over from lund to denmark's capital (does it matter if it's winter? Can you walk over the ice?)
I didn't have the same privilages as you
The enemy a.i was just kinda smarter in my game
Denmark had something like 30 ships in the start of the war, is this just rng?

I don't have all the dlc's, but if all these things were easier for you just because you had all the dlc's, that would be kinda p2w.
I followed your steps very cloesly, did i just had bad luck or what?

A good guide. I did some things different in mine.

First, I only had two cav in my army at the start, because that saved money and allowed me to build a few more galleys. The battle on the seas was predictably tough against Denmark, but the extra ships helped. Norway sent their fleet to the strait in my game; maybe they changed something in 1.31.

I also got the vassal transfer CB in the age objective and used that to pluck all of Norway from Denmark in one go. Alas, they didn't take exploration, but their forces were a nice bonus.

For some reason, Muscovy never attacked Novgorod, allowing me to cut them off entirely and snag the province of Novgorod itself to keep Russia from forming later.

I tend to watch these guides to give me ideas on how to play the start, but ultimately I have found it works better to figure out the strategy that works the best for me. This is not to detract from your guides at all; they have helped me get a lot better at EU4, and I thank you!

Pretty close to what i do. you dont need anyone to get independance though. It helps ofc. Normally i slap denmark and settle for a province or 2 and just nab abit of money to help with the loans. Then i go for novgorod and danzig as provinces so i dont have to ever worry about commonwealth or russia forming. Then i usually either ignore west europe all together and push hard to the southeast. if i want world conquest i usually crush everything from the polish border to japan first. As when you can toss a million men into europe they are helpless. Then just mop up the colonies druing the late 1700s. I find that its easier that way than going for colonial expansion as some of the alliances and countries that may form if you are slow stomping your way into india can be one hard nut to crack on your own.

So i just tried this after seeing this and well... that is not what happend at all....

Lithuania did not support independence, nor did novgorod. But did get England+scotland
Denmark and its subjects fleets did merge and attacked my fleet, England did nothing about the fleets
-made my army stuck on the island then stacked wiped.
made a lesser peace deal to get something before i got wiped out.
rebuild to 17stack army, and attacked Novgorod
-They somehow got a fleet of 20, including 3 heavy ships. SO byby my own fleet.
2nd try I got my fleet up too, but by then they had allied with Ottomans....

Back to Denmark they now have an Alliance with Moscovy...
so yea.... not really anything like this

I would do Sweden in a heart beat if it didn't have any of the default missions and had it's own 100% unique tree. Does anyone have any good mods for a Sweden mission tree that DOESN'T have any challenging missions and no bordergore? The only one's I've downloaded involve PUing the Commonwealth and just killing Russia when I just want to own the Scandinavia, the Baltic and colonize.

In my latest Sweden run I broke free really early but this method is way cleaner and looks to leave you on a path for much earlier conquest of the Baltic.

I'll keep experimenting, but an extra 5 galleys is NOT powerful enough to take on the combined Danish and Norwegian fleets. Maybe I missed it, but if the key is to snipe some week transport fleet when it's several sea provinces away from from the rest of the Danish fleets then that is what should have been said in the video.

Ok I did try the guide: as many people said, the naval superiority is very difficult to obtain, Denmark and Norway have sooo many ships you can't beat them. But don't worry, you can manage it. In my run I had the support of Lithuania and not England because they didn't rival Denmark. Unfortunate, but luck remembers me when Poland chose to not make Lithuania a junior partner. Anyway, declare independence asap, your army will crush the danes(I used only infantry and 0 cavs),and the Lithuanian army will kind help you against the tlforts of Norwegians(they probably run around and do nothing, but sometimes they will distract the enemy which is the real job of IA). Full occupy Norway, wait for the ticking war score, even without the Danish capital you will achieve independence and grab some provinces in Norway(that's important, because this will lower the total amount of warscore when you will use the transfer subject age bonus). Ok you are free, now attack asap the Livonian order/teutonic order in order to grab Riga, danzig and konisberg(center of trades, veeeery crucial). With the help of Lithuania and maybe novgorod you can easily win(yes I said novgorod, you will betray them after this peace deal). Poland will surely attack teutonic, so occupy at least konisberg(if you are lucky they will not conquer danzig). Then wait for truce is up with Denmark, use the age bonus(you humiliated Livonian order before, so +1 age objectives), take Norway and that's it, you are now a medium power with almost all Scandinavia under your control. You can attack novgorod for lands, keep crushing Danes and conquering everything you missed, and... Profit with your Baltic dominance.

Not sure I really agree with this guide. England and Novgorod are weak allies and you'll immediately be pulled into a war with Muscovy if you go with Novgorod as an ally. I recommend building tall a bit until you can get Muscovy and maybe France to support. Also, in the independence war take the Norway province bordering Scotland. Then you can easily expand into the British Isles while they are all still weak. You can also carve up Novgorod between you and Muscovy. On your second war with Denmark/Norway make sure to take the western most Icelandic provinces and you colonize from there, if you're into that. You'll be pretty solid and can do what as you consolidate Scandinavia and the British Isles.

Sry but this guide is based on pure luck, thus it is not good guie. In most gameplays it is not working.
1) Mostly rebels leave Gotland imidietly and Danish army will fight on the mainland
2) Norway navy will hlep Danish navy to utterly wreck your 17 ships
3) No major nation will help you to gain independence
