How to Use the Google Docs Outline Tool | Add Outline to Google Docs

Hey thank you so much! I am writing a book on docs and when I first started, I had all my outlines, then one day I opened it up and they were all gone. Now I can easily go to all my chapters again, thanks!

How do you not get all that extra text in the outline heading? Whenever I attempt to do an outline it adds everything to the heading even if i'm only highlighting the words i want to have in the heading to outline

Whenever i create the heading it does the whole text instead of the one line i want.
How do i only do the one line instead of the whole doc?
