As an old GM of +25 years of RPG. Thanks to this film I was able to convince 6 normal people that D&D is cool and to have them play their first game!

Try to encourage people to play our d&d with the olds films !... people leave while watching the films because they are so bad !

Yes it's more Hollywood, but it manages to make everything cool and attractive! That’s what a mainstream film is for!

Thank God an honest review! I'm a screenwriter and when I saw the trailer last year I could tell it's not going to recoup it's money and it did NOT! On a $150 Million dollar budget, it made only $208 million. Don't want to talk about marketing costs. I want to hit up the producers or Hasbro so BAD and offer to write a "DnD" film in about 5-7 years. They did invest in the story and character development but something just was not working; NOT comedy, music, great fight-scenes tho or CGI.

I will give my take:
The first rule of great storytelling is to SHOW the viewer what happens - never TELL them what happened. The first 30-minutes of the film is solid exposition, and the trend follows with sprinkles of exposition throughout the entire film.
Honestly, the movie is based on Dungeons & Dragons. Yet, 85% of the film is nothing more that monologue. If I played a session of D&D and all we did was take turns having a conversation, just to leave the area and travel, having more dialogue, and arrive at our destination to..., you guessed it, have more conversations, I would probably never play with that group again.
Yes, the film is really dialogue and exposition heavy, with smatterings of short action sequences to keep the movie interesting, at least less boring.
Honestly, I only made it through the first 1/2 hour of the film before I turned it off, never to watch it again.

I found it no more or less entertaining than Fallout: Nuka Break mini.
I found them both equally disappointing and lackluster compared to the source they were based on.

The movie did actually suck tho. Both the theatrical movies were terrible, oddly enough the straight to video ones were the only good ones out of the bunch

Hasbro is losing massive amounts of money on DnD. They can't even give it away. I doubt Wizards of the Coast will be around five years from now.

I have all two of the original D&D movies on DVD and don't have the third because it was not available here. I watched the first one again after your review and I still enjoy it. Granted it could have been better but it is still a cute 3/3.5 E D&D movie. The acting was good, especially Jeremy Irons, with some so-so acting. I enjoyed the cast. No one ever had a problem with a Black Elf and we never mentioned it nor complained. I love your video review. I will watch your review of the newest movie too.

Ay the movie was amazing if you watching it in a cinema that has 100% volume and a seat that has a remote where you can lay down and sleep cuz how good it is and where you have each popcorns with your friends and have a table where you can put you food in.

When WotC and their sensitivity readers come to the same conclusion as the KKK, National Socialist party and white supremist, that Race mixing is bad/inherently racist you know it is no longer an accident but these people are full out and out racist cunts. Regardless of their claims to be opposed to racism. I can call a shit sandwich a butter creme surprise, that doesn't make it a butter creme surprise. It is still a shit sandwich.

WotC are racists. When the idea of one race bumping uglies with another race is so offensive to them they want to remove that content you know they have exposed their true motivations. How the fuck can you claim to be against racism when you embrace the worse position that the most racist organizations held that race mixing is so wrong it must be expunged.

WotC will never get a dime from me again. I will no longer watch critical role, use D&D beyond, or buy any WotC books. They having been showing us in little ways they are bigots over the last few years now they are claiming that hating race mixing is being anti racist? I went to see it yesterday, I was the only one there.

A great movie, my group had a blast, hope this movie makes a lot of money and we get to experience more movies with this group.
