UPDATE: Shoot, a few have mentioned this and it looks like I missed it in my show notes. You CAN print with Cura, Simplify3D, or any slicer you can print tethered from. There is a USB port on the back that lets you hook it up to a computer to print from. That said, you still get the texture when printing.
Ответитьfound a mod T 3d printer at a second hand store and i have no idea if it even works its missing a power supply #1. and i have looked online for the software to be able to use the 3d printer and it seems the website is no more or maybe i got sent to a bs page. can you help me with some links to download the software for the printer a good free slicer and anyting else i may need please. i us onshape to design all my stuff unsure if i can even use that software i hope i can i love the ese of use on onshape. thank you for your time could use your help big time on this
ОтветитьDrinking game: take a shot whenever the word texture is said
Ответитьgot mine yesterday finsh today and now just get printer eror reject everything still the same i get printer not connected ???????
Ответитьyou can from the model see that there is slop in the mechanism and likely a bend in 1 or more of the rods. That is most likely what is causing the pattern. IMO no heated bed or PLA only is 100% no from me. That and I don't want to be supporting anyone who is running physical hardware as SAS. 3D print wise there is literally no reason for it, as 3D CAD and slicing don't require that much horsepower. My main machine is a 2014 MBP and while it was a top-spec machine for its day it and my old AMD Bulldozer machine from 2011 are still more than fast enough for CAD and slicing.
ОтветитьI got one from Offer Up for $30, I'm gonna try to hack it up with a Big Tree Tech board and sensorless homing to see if it can be better...
ОтветитьPerhaps making the bed heavier would stabilise it reducing the texture issue.
ОтветитьMy fabrikator mini v1.5 will make this thing take a walk of shame all the way home.. thanks for stopping me from waisting $80 on an "as is" matter mod from eBay
ОтветитьThat artifact is most likely caused by the rods that move the bed, I would imagine it would be very hard to control backlash on that system, those prints are as good as they are going to get
ОтветитьI actually have used this printer for over two years now.
There are lines or a texture if you use the stock online slicer new matter tells you to use. In fact the “best” setting was almost always worse than the “normal” setting. However if you use astroprint as your slicer, your prints come out awesomely. In fact there were prints that just wouldnt print using new matters online slicer. But they would print great with astroprint. I know both slicers are based on cura. However astroprint made it easy with great results.
As far as the physical mechanism causing the texture, i dont think that is true. Otherwise the texture wouldnt have gone away using astroprint.
I really really like this printer. It is one of the very few printers that truly set up like a paper printer you use at work. There is no bed leveling. There is no putting stuff together. This is the type of printer 3d printers need to be if 3d printing is truly going to become and “everyday person” thing. Even 3d printers such as the ender printers as well as others that need “some” assembly arent as easy as people think for the average joe and sally who just want something to work with easy setup. Even printers that come completely aseembled eventually need maintenance the average joe dosnt want to mess with. This printer is one of the few that made it possible to unbox print and not have to worry nearly as much about maintenance since there is literally almost no maintenance needed to keep the x and y level. The bed system and the design attempted to reduce the total number of parts needed to make a 3d printer help with this. I think they succeeded very well. This printer literally takes all the setup needed to get a printer “flat” and square out of the equation. It also has a great look. It is a shame new matter went out of business. But i think one of the main reasons they didnt make it was because they focused on their printing infrastructure more than they did their printer. My only complaint about this printer is that it needs a larger printer volume. It is currently at 15cmx10cmx15cm.
If they made this printer again and coukd conceivably make larger printers they would get all my business. These are about as no hassle as you can get.
My Cr-10 mini is about 2 cents per cm3
ОтветитьI guess the plate has play on the rails, so that could explain the texture.
ОтветитьSounds as useless as the juicero.
ОтветитьThat texure looks exactly like the one i had when my linear bearings were'nt smooth enough .
ОтветитьIs this a payed promotion video ?
ОтветитьI have this printer I was a so happy when i got it but its not worth it after a while the heater will burn out after a month or even 2 weeks and you cant buy extras for it the bottom plate after a few prints the filament will no longer stick to the plate I had to ruff it up with a wire brush and then after a while it just wasnt even worth dealing with it now its a dust collector in my shed
ОтветитьThis is a pretty generous review of a product that clearly put looks before function. Almost every feature of this is the opposite of what an average user of 3d printers should want. There are far more competitively priced printers that give both more features and better results. Printers that allow manual control over the machine, a design that allows for easy access to components to repair/upgrade. Why would I pay more money for fewer options and a smaller build area with a sub-par print quality? To look nice? I can print covers to make an anet A8 look like a darn Crysler. Hopefully the market is weeding out these flashy gimmick printers.
ОтветитьHoly lost motion, Batman!
ОтветитьAAAAAAWWWWWW.....as of 5-12-18 not $299 buuuuut $889....WOW?! But free shipping....
ОтветитьI'd just buy a Creality instead
ОтветитьIt's all a moot point now that MOD-t has folded, but moving the print bed in any axis other than z pretty much guarantees some resonance artifacts. Moving in both X and Y with a lightweight, cantilevered printhead guarantees exponentially magnified resonance artifacts. It's almost as though the designers tried to make as many wrong choices as possible -- the only design that would be worse is if the printhead was static and the bed was moving in 3 axes simultaneously.
ОтветитьAnd what about Anycubic Kossel Plus? That's 3 cents per cm^3. And it's Delta printer. It costs about $330. And it have a heated bed. That's much better than this.
Ответитьthat texture is most definitely caused by high frequency vibrations caused by the lead screws only movement, there doesn't seem to be a way of implementing in guide rods and anti-backlash nuts in that design for stabilizing the carriage and as a result will suffer from the inherent vibrations cause by lead screw wobble, they obviously tried to dampen it as much as possible by using that heavy print bed however i would imagine at higher print speeds it would just make the problem worse due to inertia of that mass when changing directions. From a engineering stand point that doesn't seem like the smartest or most effective design from a print quality standpoint.
Ответитьand now the company has gone out of business so without lots of tweaking, i've got a big white and clear brick.
ОтветитьCould you please review the MonoPrice Mini Delta?
ОтветитьWell it looks like new matter is closing up shop so all the people won't have to worry about using the cloud anymore when the store closes an update on using it with Kira would be a big help and the video was good too
ОтветитьMy mod t's texture isn't very visible, almost not there. I have had some issues, such as he print not starting (because I started with the bod not in the bottom left corner) and also once my extruder didn't come down; that was due to it being slightley stuck. All I had to do to fix it was to twist the knob on the back.
ОтветитьHi, what would you say is a better printer for cosplay masks at this price range?
ОтветитьMay I make a suggestion? Buy a filastruder instead if you have a printer
ОтветитьNew matter is selling these for $100. Worth it?
ОтветитьNoticed the company added "lock-bars" / a "lock-bars" revision fix. Anyone know if this has solved the print texture issue(?)
ОтветитьI have the Mod T printer and I am totally enjoying it. I do not find the wisps happening that you talk about and that I see in your video. I do see that strange texture. But, I have been printing like a mad man and enjoying it. Great videos.. thank you for the information! Where is the link for the snippy snip holder?
ОтветитьI wonder if the textures could result from the fact that the bed is resting to long geared rods? Not having held the bed I don't know how much weight is there, but I cant imagine it being too stable just because there will be a force applied as the gear is pushing the bed along to make it want to lift up, and since the bed only has the teeth on the bottom and not fully encompassed the same way a lead screw would be. This is all speculation, but I that is one major that is different with this printer, and when it makes fast movements I could easily see it causing vibrations.
ОтветитьHow about washing your f ing hair its a 299 3d printer for christ sake
ОтветитьThank you for your review. The texture problem, is a problem for me. You're review saved me from buying this.
ОтветитьWhere did you find the fan shroud cover file sir?
ОтветитьI was looking at a video posted by new matter themselfs and its directions to put the print plate stabilizing bars on that you didn't seem to mention this whole video...which they mention will give better quality prints by using them properly
ОтветитьJoel doing a "<3 Angus" search on Google? Is it "just" a bromance? or, should Makers Muse take out a restraining order? :D
Ответитьmy god the amount of plastic we are wasting on this shit ....
ОтветитьI’m having tolerance issues with my mod t can you help
ОтветитьI think you should just spend the extra 30 dollars and a the tevo tornado.
ОтветитьI'm looking at getting the monoprice select mini, is this a good choice?
ОтветитьThe bed racks and pinion shafts... Too coarse a resolution
ОтветитьBetter off getting a monoprice select mini. I have that 1 and it was only $220. It does a great job , has a heated bed, and even though it sold as only doing 0.1mm layer heights, it will actually print down to 0.04mm. I'm not into the whole cloud thing. This printer seems like the Apple of printers locking you into their software for making it work. Much better to get something that is more open. That why I didn't get a divinci, since you're locked into using their software.
ОтветитьWent to a school that bought one of these and helped set it up. It seems okay, though at that price I question this machine's reliability in the long term. It's very easy to set up and use, but that's about it. The fact that it's also cloud-connectedvis annoying. Hope it doesn't clash with their network security
ОтветитьHey There 3DPN. Was considering buying this printer for my young kids to learn on (6 and 9), but glad I watched this and learned about he texture issue. Which printer would you recommend that doesn't have the texture issue? Trying to stay around the $300 range.
ОтветитьHi dear,we need your help ?may you contact your by e-mail?is it ok?i am Sheldon
ОтветитьSafe for kids pfh im 12 and i have a 3d printer
