I have the same problem with sleep with my all AMD system. The computer just wont wake up so i gotta hold down the power button. So i have just been shutting my system down for the past 4 months.
ОтветитьIt's weird how they're having so many issues while I've been using AMD for years and never seen anything this extreme.
ОтветитьPower supplies contribute to more issues than people care to admit. Even with Nvidia, you have the "transient power spike" meme and older power supplies cannot handle that kind of load. They either crap out completely or you get more minor issues like simple crashes to windows instead of hard power off moments. Power supplies 100% will cause issues. Period. Every new build I do, I always buy the most recent PSU possible in order to ensure stability. My most recent build was my 7800x3d and 7900xtx. Besides Asus fucking up the bios and ruining memory support (fucking idiots, an no, its not AMD's fault as other brands didn't lose memory support) I made sure to buy a newer PSU. I bought the Corsair RM1200x SHIFT. But was sent the 1000w version instead.... either way, its a brand new PSU that has support for the worst of power moments, like transient power spikes. From that, I have zero issues with my build (other than Asus fucking up memory support). All of the problems you guys have, I don't. I tried streaming my desktop to my steamdeck via steamlink and it was flawless.... so shrug. AMD's newest drivers have been no restart updates.... Just like Nvidia. However I still restart anyway just because im oldschool. All of lukes issues come down to power supply, riser, and just and overall bad build quality. Guaranteed. My friend group, 2 of us are on AMD/AMD, another on AMD/Nvidia, and another Intel/AMD (cpu/gpu). None of us have any problems, at all. The discord crash he's referencing, its discords bullshit hardware acceleration. WHY does a speech app require hardware acceleration? disable that and crashes stop. And discord performance doesn't change. so lmao. 100% discords fault in my opinion. guarantee not a single development PC at discord's in house coding is amd. its all intel/nvidia. Played the original borderlands and it doesn't crash. granted I play the game of the year ENHANCED edition which has all the extra's. maxed out setting, no crashes. so again, user error i think. I also played the original borderlands back when on much older amd hardware flawlessly.... back then I think I was on a AMD 9590 and 7970 3gb.... so yeah, flawless gameplay.
ОтветитьAlso luke is right i also have thay restart whenever i put windows to sleep but it only started after i updated to windows 11 i never had issues until i updated to windows 11
ОтветитьI actually replaced my Antec 750w psu with a Seasonic titanium =)
ОтветитьCongrats to Luke on the baby!
ОтветитьI’ve been running an XFX merc 319 6800XT since may of this year. It’s overclocked 24/7. Absolutely ZERO issues. None.
ОтветитьGot a 7600 and on my first day i ended up putting my 1660 back in, couldnt get past loading screen on most games without a driver timeout, got a new psu and put the 7600 back in and ive had 1 timeout since on starfield, for the price amd is a great option
ОтветитьNever had a driver timeout ok either amd or nvidia what is that?seriously what the hell, in 15 years of having different gpus i never had that
ОтветитьWho the heck pays that much for electricity in the EU?
ОтветитьHearing this surprised me because I have used an amd card for 2 years with absolutely no issues.
ОтветитьMy first GPU was a rx 5700 xt, amazing card but from the day one i had lots of green screen and blue screen crashes, It was so painful! I changed it with a gtx1660 ti.
I love AMD, My current CPU is a 7950x, But after buying my first GPU from AMD, I always have doubts about upgrading to a new amd gpu.
I wish they could fix these weird driver issues! Nvidia never has that! But they cost a lot!
nintendo has no chill, not even if your name is bowser
ОтветитьBTW, to fix high idle power draw, just add some "weird" refresh rate to your system. I set my screens to 61Hz and my RX7900XT draws 16W at idle. You can generate that modesets using cvt.
ОтветитьJust questioning.. like i have a ryzen cpu and rx 580 bit old but still, no crashes in any games, no random bluescreens etc, so how do you still get it?
ОтветитьOMG luke just perfectly described what i am experiencing everyday with my, just slightly overheating, i5-4300U...
ОтветитьThat's something that I believe I'm lucky, I have my Radeon 7900XT for almost 9 months, and had one driver crash only, and no other issues, with games, videos and emulators.
ОтветитьThe issue with Teams screen sharing on Radeons is there for years, goes back at least to the Vega, where it caused a complete system freeze for me. Sure, might be it's just Teams that suck, but after all this time they should figure it out
ОтветитьHow is that Jake seems shorter than Linus and Luke in this video?
ОтветитьHm... I dont wanna fanboy and had nvidia as well as AMD cards... and never had those problems on both :D
ОтветитьI have been running AMD for 10+ years and never had any problems similar to these... I had some crashes with my rx 480 but that was after it was used for mining.
And also a problem with Chrome where it was not using hardware acceleration for some weird reason, which I fixed by changing some flags.
This could have been due to old windows installation, where windows reset wont do much, you just need clean install every 2 years or something
ОтветитьMy last AMD card 5700xt had some kind of issue with Discord that would crash it. My 6950XT doesn't have this issue. Been fine for 6 months.
ОтветитьI guess I've been quite lucky with my AMD 7900XT so far? I don't understand how Linus and Luke have so many issues. It's reminding me of the Linux challenge. It's to the point where I wonder if they're manufacturing issues for the sake of making a video.
ОтветитьWhat are the Tshirts Luke snd Jake are wearing?
ОтветитьThis is weird me and multiple people run all amd I almost never deal with issues either
ОтветитьFrom what I've experienced and seen it seems that switching from 1 brand to the other really screws things up.
ОтветитьSo I've had a 6900XT since launch (I came from a 980Ti) and never had any problems like that. The only blue screens I had were related to trying overclocking and undervolting.
I think a fresh Windows installation would certainly have helped...
A clean install of Windows usualy fixes performance issues like this
ОтветитьPain in the butt like Linus hahaha
Ответитьnvidia properties / settings works well tho, if that's 2005 style then i wish more manufacturers went for it
ОтветитьGoing from a 1050 to a 6650XT, saw no crashes I've never seen before, so AMD didn't work any worse (except that specific problem that discord closes sometimes when crashing, never saw that on my old GTX)
ОтветитьI wonder if Linus is not going back due to his AMD sponsorship
Ответитьlinus: "if you're having a problem that can't be explained trough normal means, then it's either ram or psu"
me: "welll yeaah true that in the Tech savy world, but in the real world, there is a third one: the customer"
seems like issues with windows more than anything included that you should do a fresh install of windows when switching between Nvidia and AMD
ОтветитьI would have went all team red if it wasn't for catching an ASUS 4070ti TUF for less than $800. But a did go with a ryzen cpu. One big thing I HAD to update the BIOS on my B650 because every game crashed. But that fixed it.
ОтветитьI don't care how you edit your videos. You guys are still doing the tech industry a disservice.
Figure out why you're having problems before you blame AMD for the issues you're having. Any issues Luke has due to his jank pcie3 riser are IRRELEVANT.
It's known to cause issues using a pcie3 riser with a pcie4 GPU. All of the issues Luke had are NOT RELEVANT and shouldn't have been included in a video with the purpose discussing AMD's GPU. This is a poor system config and complete user error.
How is anyone to take you seriously when you apparently can't build a practical and functional machine and then blame it on the vendors when you're using incompatible hardware? This is DOCUMENTED.
And Linus, have you tried using AMD Link? The streaming solution that's actually built into the drivers? You talk a lot about nvidia's steaming solutions but didn't mention AMD's at all? I assume you didn't even try it?
Basically sealed my decision to go with nVidia tbis month when I rebuild my system. I ise multiple displays and am not foing to tolerate rhat high idle power consumption. Further, why was Linus so casual about reinatalling windows, as thoigh a fresh windows install was some somple thing ro resolve a gpu issue. F that noise. Ill be hetting another nVidia card and xompletely avoid this nonsense with amd
ОтветитьAs an AMD user I shit my pants several times during this video
ОтветитьI have a 5800x3D and a 6900xt and have had a wonderful experience. I don’t know how they managed to have THESE problems this badly
