"Bridgerton" Costumes Are A Historical Mess, But They Kinda Work

First time I come across one of your videos and am hooked! You are fabolous!

Many think ( and I immediately thought this too ) Queen Charlotte wore 1780s dresses because his husband * SPOILER ALERT * had dementia and she kinda didn’t want to let him know that time was passing. He often forgot about things, so she didn’t want to shock him. I mean, sometimes he even forgot about them marrying. So she did that just for him. But I thought it was obvious especially after the series about queen Charlotte herself.

The Featherington dresses look like my nana’s old 80s decor that she never got rid of. 🤣

I think the reason the queen wears 1760-75 gowns is to help her husband feel better. If she looks like she did when they met, he’s calmer.

歴史的な衣装に詳しくないので理由は分かりませんでしたか、チープであり、重みを感じませんでした。

If they’re ere going to add modern elements stuck as hair and embellishments on the gowns then have it be purposeful like have it make sense to the characters and not just have EVERYONE be drenched in rhinestones and glitter and Sequin.
Peopel still are fashion houses based on who are they are as people regardless of what era. Fashion still tells a story and these fashion choices don’t tell a story about anyone OR anything

This video was marvellous! I just finished watching The Haunting of Bli Manor and in Episode 8 they have a massive flashback and the whole time I couldnt concentrate because something irked me about the costumes SO much, they just seemed incredibly out of place and wrong.
could you please please please do a video like this one but about that Episode? I would like forward AND subscribe to it!

I think that Bridgerton is along the lines of historical romance novels not Jane Austen. So let it go.

I think with queen charlotte out now the reason that the queen still wears those types of fashion makes a little bit more sense. I mean her husband has some type of dementia so she maybe wears it so be more reconizable for him.

I totally agree with you and I also had the biggest problem with Mrs Fetherington's fashion that just looked weird.

The underboob thing for penelope is purposeful because her mother has bad taste and doesnt let her choose. Daphne had it to make her look younger which is why her chest is much bustier in season 2. Charlotte wears out of style fashion because of her husbands mental disease. She is waiting mentally for him to return to her any day so she doesnt want to change for him in case he does.

The more I watch this the more I realise how terrible Bridgerton Season 1 is.
