Just bought those Khaite crystal ballet flats today. Couldn’t help myself. Had to preorder.

English language has no words to describe how much I hate the heel of those Loewe monstrosities. Every step would be an exercise in panic about feeling like the heel's just gonna break off at the pitch. Then an exercise in discomfort because of poor support. Those shoes ain't made for walking. I'm also just ew ew ew at the reemergence of ballet flats. I thought they were hideous and unflattering back in the 00s, but somehow they have gotten bloody worse. Then that toe ring sandal. I can feel it in the feet how when I don't lift my foot properly, the sole will bend under my foot, dragging on the pavement, because there is nothing substantial securing a large chunk of the sole to the foot. I hate every single pair of shoes here, and I am usually not trend-averse. Or maybe I just hate feet. Those minimalist ones especially just showcase the foot. Yuck. Feet. What an unfortunate shape for a part of your body otherwise so useful.
...fine, the orange Gazelles are nice. Fine.

Loeffler Randall makes a nice ballet flat even with mesh version with crystals. Marsell makes the minimalist flats that khaite, Proenza Schuyler and the Row make. Loeffler Randall and Marsell are way more affordable too. They were on sale in third party sites like Saks, Bloomingdale's and Bergdorfs.

I'm a 38 and those strappy heels and lace up with the butterfly were in style when I was in grade school.

I used to own the Gazelles in cream and I just bought the Sambas last week. Sambas are so streamlined and neutral that they go with everything even dresses. Gazelles come in nice colours but they're puffier so can look like mini baguettes with certain outfits! If they made slimmer Gazelles they would be perfect

I feel like the Valentino rockstud flats with the ankle strap is a bit punk because it's unbothered and not as feminine as the other iterations

I’ve noticed while watching street style videos the Chanel two-tone sling-backs, either in flat or with a small heel look good and elevate nearly every outfit. There are too many chunky trainers that just spoil most any outfit they’re paired with. Also, the ladies mincing down the street in high heels or high platforms look ridiculous compared with the ladies taking long athletic strides. The high-heel gals look like they’re going to fall or trip at any moment. The only other shoes that look good when walking down the street are boots with a flat or small heel. The street style videos where you can watch movement really help understand the reality of shoe selection. Those gazelle sneakers also look good on the street. Not as chunky. There’s nothing worse than ankle grazers with chunky running shoes.

The marcy flat is called a turnshoe. its a 15th centuryishs peasant shoe made of one piece of leather (good job spotting that) and made inside out and then turned. there is neither a Right or Left shoe, you wore them in to become fitted.
