It's obvious in comparing the two siding/corner post trim in the last series of pics, that the highlights in the Roki pics are blown out due to different exposure values, which is the fault of the photographer and not the lens..

Seems that the Canon has slightly more contrast in the image as well. Still tho, for the price? Roki all day... And the following week.

It's impossible to tell with such bad video quality. you need at high end or at least decent video in order to see the microcontrast difference between the two, this video quality is lower budget that a kid with a cellphone.

I think the comparisons weren't very useful because you shot at f10/t10, when it should have been shot at f1.4 with an ND filter. The real effect of cine lenses are shown in the shallow depth images.
You also compared ISO and EV exposure with different f/t stops. Both lenses should have been set to 1.5 because the cine doesn't go to 1.4. Shooting them with different stops will obviously differ in brightness.

I can't believe that some people actually have bad stuff to say about your video. I found it very instructive, well explained, I like the way you approached the comparison, and your overall style. Great job, subscribed ;)

Thanks for this video. I’m debating on an old Canon FD 24/35mm or the Rokinon 24/35mm to match with my Sony 50mm 1.8. Also, i personally do not see why people are saying your video is terrible. Specially, those stating it looks like cellphone footage. They seem to have no experience with cinematography because professional footage is more credit to how the directors uses lighting in relation to camera angle. Clearly, being outside means wide open lighting and using a ND filter kind of defeats the purpose of a comparison video. This video was helpful. Again, thank you.

How did you measure the light when you compensated with ISO? Light meter or internal meter of the camera?

I know this video is a few years old, but it's basically the only comparison there is... Unless Rokinon/Samyang is literally lying about the T stops than your testing is flawed. There is no possible way an f/1.4 lens can be 2/3 of a stop brighter than a t/1.5 lens, it's physically impossible. In fact most objective tests show the Canon lens sitting at t/1.7 while there's no evidence to my knowledge that Rokinon/Samyang is incorrect in their measurements.

I'm super tempted to get the Rokinon 24mm and mod the mounting ring to work on my camera. Or just get an EF version and a dumb adapter. Only benefit of replacing the mounting ring would be not having to deal with an adapter.
