Just to put it out there. Ashwin's decision should be treated as a practical decision rather than controversial decision. He really eliminated the need of Coach having uncomfortable conversations with him from time to time. Given the schedule that is coming his way there will be more than a few such convesrations with Ashwin. So i can see where he is coming from. He is at a stage where he can at the most play 2 or 3 tests before turning 39 which is right about the time most players hang their boots with a few exceptions like Anderson. Let us not forget he is ranked 4 in the ICC ranking. 3rd in all rounder category. Won a man of the series in not distant past. Fans feel he still has something to offer. That is exactly when you should leave the scene when people want a little more of you. I say he has timed his retirement brilliantly regardless it happened during the middle of the series. The point is when you retire people should miss you. If not then you mistimed your retirement.

I hope and pray that Ashwin will play in South Africa in our T20 competition like you DK.
