Thanks for this really useful video. I’ve just ordered a Nikon Z8 which can record 10bit ProRes Raw internally so I’m thinking the Shinobi might be the one to go for to save weight and gain extra battery life. Would be interested to hear what you think.

Bro, the comparison is appIes to oranges. I don't know why someone buys ninja 5 just for monitoring. There are much cheaper alternatives for monitoring. Ninja= recording.

Hello, excellent review! How long did the bigger battery last in the Ninja? Thanks in advance.

I have an A7s 3 with the Ninja V, and I have tried everything, I use exactly this configuration of yours, and yet the file of the camera cards in S-log 3 come out with more dynamic range, more washed, less contrasted and saturated than the files recorded on the SSD inside the Ninja, could someone help me???!

If I'm filming 10-bit, 4k, 50fps on my Sony FX30, will I be able to view what I'm recording on the Shinobi monitor?

Thanks for the video! Deciding between the two still as I'm shooting with A7SIII. Right now, I'm using a budget monitor, AndycineA6 plus, which is like under $200. Just not bright enough, has lut support, wave forms, 4k display. External recording isn't something I need right now but may want to do later. I feel like I'm leaning towards the Ninja V based on the comments but will be doing some more research

Did you notice that with the Shinobi - while recording VLOG with a LUT displayed on the monitor that the false colour or waveform information uses the LOG image. However, using the Ninja V the false colour or waveform information uses the LOG image + LUT. Atomos are aware of this.

Could you explain how to turn the red box on that indicates when you're recording? I've googled, asked ChatGPT, and browsed the manual with no luck.

I was about to pull the trigger on the Ninja until watching this. I make ASMR camping video's and just run a Rode Pro + on the camera, that'll pick up the fan yea? Battery life and weight is a serious consideration... Thinking I'll start looking at Shinobi or anything you can recommend one year later. Awesome vid mate!

Hi, thanks for the comparison, it’s interesting.
I need to check if the price of Ninja V + AngelBird 512GB SSD is higher as Shinobi + 512GB AngelBird CF express Type B for in camera recording.

Hi Sam. Really enjoyed this review. I am in the market for an external monitor/recorder. I have the Canon EOSR6 and it has the over heating issue. Do you think if I use the Ninja, I can avoid the over heating issue since the signal is being sent to the recorder? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks man!

Interesting battery life on the shinobi. My SmallHD Focus gets at least two hours on the smallest NPF battery.

Would you also suggest to use this to complement a Canon R5C? If so; rather the Ninja V(+) or Shinobi?

Although they are similar for some reason the Ninja has social guides where Shinobi does not.
Not sure why Atomos haven’t introduced these as they are super useful in todays world of filming.

Hey thanks for the information. Question. Does it matter what year ninja v someone has? I seen one for sale and it had a 1920x1200 resolution… but others have 1920x1080. And new to this and I want to purchase one but not sure about certain specs. Will a firmware update change the resolution from old to new? Or should I just buy a newer model?

Nice review, thanks! Question, just got a Sony A7siii and want a monitor to view while 4k 60 internally....From the specs, I don't think the Shinobi will display 4K 60 and looks like I need to get the Ninja V or the Ninja V Plus....thoughts?

So when I upload the footage into my computer do I send the video files from the SSD to the computer and then again send the files from the memory card and somehow combine them into one? Having 2 different forms of storage is very confusing as I'm brand new to the videographry world
