This is so important! Ive been trying to convince my body that it's safe now, but it rarely works. The best has been through visualizing my favorite teacher from high school, who i felt a good connection with. But the idea that the body speaks the language of sensations is so helpful, and your technique seems to be really helpful - thank you!

But if the nervous system doesnt speak logic, how can i convince it that its ok with logic? Telling it that im safe, that what it feels right now is safety, is logic driven. Especially when fear and catastrophizing is 24/7, convincing it that its safe doesnt seem possible

I know a lot of people with C-PTSD completely miss how important it is for a mother to really hug and kiss the child. My mother was always physically distant. Your body, does not matter what you think and say, if your body was never kissed and hugged in a real way, it will think it was rejected. Love for everyone! You all can and will recover.

Omg! This issue of not feeling safe has followed me all of my life. I was a neglected child - literally physically sent to school alone to kindergarten , first grade and on…
As much as I have done inner worked, I haven’t found how to heal this terror I feel in my body. It has gotten better , meaning less frequent as I have worked to grow myself up, but a few things trigger me here and there and catch myself catastrophizing.

I love that you explained that this part doesn’t understand words , but understand sensations.
Anyone reading this , if there is anything that has worked please share with me . Thank you and blessings !

Sorry if this is dumb but wdym by “part of the body that feels okay”, okay as in safe? How can JUST my feet feel safe when the rest of me doesn’t?

I’ve been doing this exercise. It doesn’t take long and it positively changes the way my body feels for a while. That’s pretty darn helpful. I’m glad you lead us through this exercise in TSOT, it took me a bit to get the hang of it. I am going to work on the safety part. Thanks Michele!

Paired association is something that I learned from you that has really been repeating in my mind lately... my friend told me if someone doesn't hit her in relationships she thinks it's because that person doesn't love her. She told me that when I was a 21 I'm 28 now and now I know it's because of paired association
