Ego Identity & The Path To Inner Peace

At 18 years old I received The Power of Now from an old lady in a wheel chair. She was in her 90s. She purchased the book from a book store for 1 cent. The owner of the book store had just died and they were selling everything. She drove her wheel chair over to me and gave me it. She told me I needed this book. I never saw her again. She died maybe a week after. I kept the book in my book shelf for around a year. At 19 I read it. It changed my life. I have read it several times a year since then. I eventually gave the book to a friend of mine who asked me about meditation. Right now I have 3 copies of the book and whenever anyone shows interest, I hand them a copy.

The ego can be so tricky it is hard to become aware of all the shapes of it. So I keep on practicing my awareness and listen to wonderful teachers like mr. Tolle. Thank you so much for your part in changing the self awareness in this world 🙏

I'd like to add my take.

As a creator, or artist, following your divine blueprint, following what shines out to you, doing what you truly want, is eternally fulfilling. Loving people is eternally fulfilling. When something resonates with the divine, it is eternal. You never forget it, and you're always satisfied. When you think back on it, it doesn't feel like "oh, I wish I had that again... I need it again..." but rather, it feels like "Ah, so nice. I feel it now. Ah, so fulfilling." and the sense that you're going to remember it even after your life.

Rupert and Eckhart Tolle has given us much wisdom; however, the area of thinking and his idea of ego; he is off the mark. Spinoza, a 17th-century philosopher, wrote his Ethic and it was banned because it challenged the thinking and the belief systems of the day. We all have an ego; the ego is a necessary thing that is a part of our existence. Without an ego we could not exist. Spiritual growth is possible when we realize that we are more than ego when we awaken our true intelligence, or the clear-thinking mind. This intelligence is a part of God’s infinite intelligence. But what I don't understand is, I discovered personality is just a 'character' years ago (when I was still a child). Yet I've not overcome the ego, and I feel there is something deeper than that.

Why is "Who am I?" the most important question?

Thank you, so much, Eckhart. I’ve become a recluse in this day and age. I still love people, but the egomania is absolutely exhausting, and absolutely mindless. They just don’t understand that everything they do effects all of humanity.while I keep my ego in check, as merely a life tool, they feed and build theirs up intentionally.

I just want to remind you, if, the moment he says something and it brings you into awareness, you become aware of the identification you are experiencing, or the awareness that you are, that part of you that woke up in that moment can NEVER go back to sleep. It may be that that part of you is once again "obscured" by the mind, but it is always there in the background, until you are ready for the next bit to rise out of its sleep. Each "bit" of your consciousness that wakes up, adds to your light and power of presence. Sometimes, you may feel as if you have fallen asleep spiritually again. This is just a rest period. Keep with it, you will surface again
