How to BEAT the 250w ebike RULE!!!

I can't believe you said 250w ain't bad if you throw a bit more power at it. 😂 To know how much power you are using you need the battery specs and controller specs and then workout how much power is being used. I am a firm fan of 250w hub motor because it weighs next to nothing and a can take my battery on the plane without any special transport containers etc.

I love your front mate as the UK law is a complete ass on this matter. Basically the way they have it is you cannot legally ride a 750 watt ebike motor in the UK even with a full motorcycle license as the DVLC don't recognise as an electric motorcycle that you can fit plates onto and the insurance companies won't touch it. Is it really any wonder people willfully choose to break the law when they can't get their shit together.

I am looking to do something like this with a Bafang 250 watt mid drive on my MTB touring bike. It will be loaded with camping gear in panniers and hitting some really big hill climbs on the Yorkshire Dales Cycleway next summer. I used to do it with pure leg work in the past but that was when i was in my forties nearly 20 years ago. I nearly died of covid pneumonia in 2021 and never really fully recovered hence the need for a legal motor/battery combo that is up to this task.

Will heat be a problem on the hub motor? My 1500w 48v gets toasty.

You may have got past the 250w rule but the addition of a throttle makes it illegal and can be confiscated by the police. If you want to go faster than 15mph buy a motorcycle or simply pedal faster.....

Bought a 1000w ebike after we gone out and rented some a few weeks ago. Not even realising that ebike laws are a thing! A little bot screwed now as the shop i bought it from is 400 miles away. How likely am i to get away with riding this thing on country roads and trails?

i think ive found the perfect bike for my weight GOGO BEST GF700 its got a really good 17.5 48v battery 500w hub motor in each wheel it should be able to carry me i was hoping to go on a long 50 mile ride with it but its not road legal i highly doubt the Legal 250w will be good enough may even blow up been under lots of stress.

for me the whole case for throttles,is the pedalling round corners issue.

I like someone challenge over 250w ebikes in court ,its not how much power is on tap its if you speed with it ,same as bloody motorbike or car ,if want have higher power then gov should register them with rego plate speed get caught simple .

I signed a waiver and had a larger battery pack fitted to my 250w motor, the guy in the shop, who was German, said it pains him to say that the British make the best electric hub motors on the market, he was running his at 96v and reckoned it would do over 70mph and was scary AF 😂

You're right about pedal assist kicking in can be dodgy, so reset the number of pedals before it kicks in higher, that should help.

Sorry to be a pain, does this bike need pedalling to get the electric power? I need to sort a no pedal bike for health reasons, my breathing is proper shot. What would it cost for this kit? Awesome job and worth struggling with the Chinese soft metal.
