I don't get this argument that there are no unique characters you can make. Yea, if you level up a bunch you'll eventually get everything but what about until then?

Are you going to spend perks on the tech tree to make your weapons stronger or the combat tree? Will you spend perks to kill easier or explore planets easier?

Will you make money finding more loot or make that loot more valuable or get into locked containers. You can get commerce, scavenging, and security but that's already 10—12 perk points you can spend elsewhere.

I heard FNV in the video, in FNV if you have any intelligence you can get enough skill points to be good at everything.

I'm sure there's ways to exploit the game to get all the XP you need but that's on you.

The background and traits are great. You get a head start on skills that match the type of background you're trying to go for, and you get unique dialogue options for your background and your traits. It's just a slow burn. S.P.E.C.I.A.L. is just the same concept told in a different way that is more lore friendly to Fallout. They're both concepts that give you skills and advantages with the right amount of training.

Keep in mind Starfield does not have its DLC's yet and I think they will improve it in comparison to the fallout games.

7 tops, it's not 5 or 6, it's a 7. It's still fallout 3 gunplay, same engine same mechanics with a lot missing. Its not a 4/5 10/10 like the paid Bethesda reviews. That implies a perfect game, a masterpiece. This is far from it. Not even halo 2 and 3 would get a 10 and they're way better. Ghosts of tsushima and the new god of wars aren't a 10 and the combat and story is better. Hogwarts legacy was amazing but it's a 9 tops, also WAY WAY better. FF16 is better, elden ring still is, Diablo4 isn't though haha. Skyrim is still way more fun and I honestly enjoyed F76 more than SF. it's boring, if you shut your brain off and mope about it's fine but Skyrim is 12 years old and plays better still...crazy, it was amazing for its time. Starfield hasn't captured that amazement for me. It needs a lot of polish, sadly it's always up to the community to improve THEIR game

Hot take: The digipick mini-game is the best lockpicking mini-game I've experienced in any game. At this point, I do Master locks in < 1 minute. Any lock type below that I generally complete within 30 to 45 seconds or so. Novice locks are like 10 seconds or something after you've done them enough and understand how the mini-game mechanics work. I've only needed to undo about 2-3 times so far, and I'm 70 hours into the game. I understand some people might not understand the puzzle, but for me, it is very fun. And yes, I do get stumped from time to time on certain locks, and I'll have to take 2-3 minutes, but that's often the exception rather than the norm.

It may not be a 10/10 for you but it is certainly a 10/10 for me. Doesn’t matter what other people think. As long as YOU are having fun and enjoying the game that’s all that matters.

i like the need to spend a little time leveling up skills to get research, it prevents me from just going straight to the "best" weapon mod and lets me progress through the other mods and see how they change the weapons over time. feels more like your character is learning and not just gaining magic levels. just more role playing feeling in my opinion. annoying? kinda but so is learning a skill, so i look at it as your character learning weapon modification.

I'm still a beginner in this game like 15 hours but i agreed on how grindy the skill system is. Maybe it could be better if they were combined two things under one skill like armor + weapon customization skill, botanics + zoology etc.

Btw i think the biggest miss of the game is customizable robot companion and robotics. Even fo4 has a good example of it and it's the post apocalyptic world which has lost much of the technology after nuclear warfare.

The game is average. Good to play but... it was overhyped... it is overpriced... there was to much of agressive marketing with paid articles and puting in every mouth that this is a game of the year.

Imo the digipick is one of the biggest upgrades from Elder Scrolls and Fallout. No longer is there some RNG demon deciding that a T2 lock is somehow unpickable. Instead I now know for certain I can open a lock as long as my skill is high enough, and most of the time I can do it in one pick.

If you're struggling with them, especially the harder ones, I suggest starting by lining up the inner rings and work outward. That way you can double or triple-check positioning before confirming anything.

It's a solid, 8/10 for me. 2 points detracted because I'm not sold on the Nasa-Punk aesthetic, New Atlantis is boring as hell, and the loading screens. Well, the loading screens don't bother me so much as Bethesda didn't even attempt to hide them. I originally would have scored it 7/10 because the performance was bad with my 3070, but I got that sorted out by simply enabled Nvidia Resizable Bar (rebar) in the Bios, and using Nvidia Profile Inspector to enable Starfield to utilize it. Performance increase was drastic in my case, ~45fps on med setting in the middle of New Atlantis before, and after ~50-55fps on Ultra.

I agree. Starfield is my new favorite game. I will be playing it for years. I personally like much of it better then Fallout 4 and 76 but your right its not a 10/10. Thats perfection. This isnt a perfect game but it is still perfect for me. I am satisfied with the character builder, its a big step up from being Nate or Nora. I love the ship builder too, I can hear your excitement for it also. The story here is far better than Fallout with all its different avenues and possibilities for replayability. I could see myself spending hundreds of hours just playing it through different ways seeing different universes in the base game. Mods are gonna make this game an 11/10 though. I think theyre gonna be so good for this. I cant wait.

I like the digipick for now. We'll see in 50 more hours. It got easier once i realized that the rings change color from gray to light/dark blue to indicate if a pick will work on that ring.

I really don't like them locking everything behind perks. The lack of skills and attributes really hurts the game. I shouldn't have to give up carrying capacity just to be able to pick a lock, kill an enemy or craft something.

But so far, with a few ui mods, im enjoying the game.

Usually I agree with the things you say about 76, and I enjoyed seeing your perspective on this. I don't agree with you on lock picking in this game, I enjoy it quite a lot and maybe it's just the way my brain works but I find the locks pretty easy. I'm level 25, about 55 hours in, outpost building is ok but needs some work. My rating is 8/10 so far. Interface needs work, crafting and outpost building need some work.

But I can log into very well developed dial mature game like no man’s sky, and I can jump for my shift take off and literally why around the planet looking for interesting places to the landd. I’ll bet you can do that in Fairfield right I didn’t get you the fat and your ship. Jeff takes off that shit, Erin Landrieu you don’t why your shampoo Same west side I’m pretty sure the same with oh I can’t think what the other ones called but I think ever since the first Patrick put in you can now land on the planet and do things on planet gym. You know the one I’m talking about the one that’s on one for one representation of the Milky Way Literally so many places ago that you know way that the entire human race could do it in 50 years I’m in I’m not saying Starfield is bad, but I’m saying is is that they cheap, though they should’ve went with like a solar system full of planets let you actually take off and land from wherever you want and why looking for points of interest

Sterile you are providing an example of how Bethesda has lost complete the concept of making a fun game they just took Alamance. I mean it’s just Barlow and space freight only with some stupid stuff like that. That’s even harder it’s like they’ve lost any idea of what it is players want to do I would and I never like the lock picking at all except when people put locks on shit in their camp and I can pick it and take the shit that’s inside like water or whatever other resources block picking makes sense a little bit in fallout but the way you go about it is annoying But it follows you have to have a certain Parker to be good at some thing. If you put enough work by 10 you just kept automatically open shit but it seems like forever than I’ve heard Starfield it’s just fall out in space different graphics, different environment different game play elements bike lock picking really lock picking with an annoying process that you have to sit there and look at for a second probably a process you can develop a skillet and I bet if you’re so inclined to pick a lot of locks, you can probably pull pointing to make it easier that’s just fall out element in space

Yeah, I would not like it here in no single player multiplayer MMO I would not like character progression to go in that direction. I always try to do the out-of-the-box thing right I keep on doing on our mail even after on our mailing it off after the damage nerves that are mainly Jeff and Chon heart Get from her I try to stay on our Maily while everybody else is in power armor with having gun

I haven’t weighed it, but that shit would pick me off even a single player game. I wanna be able to develop my character my way of my character gonna end up just like everybody else’s character. Where is the creativity of ingenuity I try to play the shredder for long after all of you went to the chainsaw, and it seems like The auto Mili weapons are are now mom in first person or third person and they don’t seem to be doing any different attacks read anymore. Seems like they’re all just attacking way too fast all the time, but what they don’t do is pick up on ridiculously unnecessary amounts of armor of ammo Are used to think I was playing unique because I was playing a shredder built with all the launchers while using a set of PVP strangler hard armor, which nobody has or uses anyway and all that you need messes getting taken out by stupid changes in the way the game works Barfield is a single player game but still they can give you some access to creativity to try to. Otherwise you just play one character forever and it’ll eventually be a God and everything we there’s absolutely no replayability in that Joe only need to want to play one character and get every skill in ability unlocked eventually every tray every level you’re getting up going to put Dorka still want you eventually unlock everything

I started with Bethesda back in elder scrolls 4 Oblivion the first fallout game I enjoyed was 4. Been addicted to fallout 76 for quite some time. Spent several lifetimes playing Skyrim. For some reason outer space isn't that fun for me as far as gaming. The Dead space series and the Halo franchise and destiny are about the some of my personal preferences when it comes to outer space games. Fallout 76 is very sci-fi in my opinion. So no man's sky and starfield they just feel a little too specialized in that genre. And yet there's still different from Star Trek or Star wars. So maybe it's just a me thing but I appreciate your video, you've helped me decide this game isn't for me 😊

People are absolutely nuts and the video game community is just addicted to being cynical. This game is a blast. It’s totally fine.

It’s nothing close to revolutionary. If you’ve played Bethesda games it’s very familiar. Cleaner sheet of paint, fewer bugs, lots more polish and a lot of good things done better. There’s some other systems that are worst - the UI HAS to be a troll because they made the worst inventory management system in video games somehow worse. But it’s so bad I can’t even get mad about it.

Other than that it’s really good. Quests are really engrossing. The scale of this is absolutely wild. I’m having a blast. I’ve played like 50 hours and it just keeps getting better.

If you like Bethesda games, you’ll love it. If you’re a complete moron who keeps getting convinced by every video game company on planet Earth that the game they are advertising will be a genre changing experience, you’ll just be the same ole sucker you’ve always been.

While technically, you can indeed eventually get all of your skill perk points, you'd have to get to nearly level 400 to get all of your points. That means your builds can have plenty of versatility. A full day's worth of playing will get you to 20-30. XP requirements go up as you level up. So, 400 isn't something that will happen unless you refuse to make another character and grind it out.

Digipicks actually become far easier later. If you level up the security skill, it gives you "auto pick", it has a system that lets you know which pieces work better for which lock parts. It's definitely something you have to get used to.

If you are still playing this game in three months, I will treat myself near Christmas holiday. But, at first glance I am not ready to cough up my hard earned money. Somebody gifted me No Man's Sky and the fun lasted about 3 weeks. ESO has kept my busy for since 2016, but lately I am not playing at all. FO4 lasted me several years until I memorized every quest and the entire map. FO76 I was almost done with till I rolled a new character to do all the quests again. All that said, I would have preferred another iteration of the FO universe. Thank you Turtle.

I've been playing BGS games since the release of Morrowind and honestly the amount of salt out there is mind blowing. This is an ***RPG*** game . . NOT . . . a simulator. It was never marketed as a sim and has no pretensions of being a sim so FFS get over your disappointment for something you deluded yourself into expecting.
This is a BSG rpg game with all that that entails with the one exception in that it isn't on one world. STOP expecting No Mans Sky, Elite Dangerous or the never to be fully released Star Citizen. Completely different game to any of those.
Simply put if you have the typical shorter attention span of younger players and simply can't stand having to actually EARN upgrades and skills . . . . FFS MOVE ON.
As for the ponies out their GROW UP.

Still playing BG3 atm but when I get Starfield I expect I will be playing it a lot for a good while. Would've liked it if the backgrounds and traits made a bit more difference, maybe mods will help here. I think I'll start new characters rather than do new game + which means I'll probably never have a character able to do absolutely everything but I suspect my characters will still end up pretty similar as there are some things I'm always going to want to do.
