Alt linux is not debian based, it was forked from Mandrake.

I've heard good things about BunsenLabs Lithium. It's Debian-based and also hearkens back to CrunchBang. It would seem Neo CrunchBang is based upon Debian 11, though, so the claim is that it uses newer packages? But is it better or worse? Personally I'm just looking for an OpenBox OS to slap on a Chromebook.

YES_- SPARKY is on the list--- I have Sparky- have for some time- and LOVE IT. It is the ONLY distro I've had for any extended time with NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER... I run the KDE version and LOVE IT... it's VERY VERY FAST. light- and EASY to use and customize!!! BETTER THAN ALL the other distros I've treid.

So funny what you guys call lightweight these days. Whereas you can do debian cores with openbox that boot around 70-ish, the lightest and fastest ever was Slitaz (lxde). If you ran it with tint2 in an openbox session it ran around 30 mb at boot. Blaaazing fast.
