How Insurance Claims Work and How to Deal with Insurance Claim Adjusters

What about when you’re going through the other insurance company of the driver who hit my car and damaged a few others? It’s been a month and I have no rental Andy car is still not fixed. They are saying they can’t do anything until they have all the amounts for each car or whatever saying they only have 25k for payout. I’m sure they have more they can dip into they are bugging. As of right now my damages are 5k - I was the first one to call and the first one to get an estimate. She said to get a rental and keep records but if they are saying they might not be able to pay how am I suppose to get a rental when they are saying they might not even cover all my costs. This is so frustrating.

Maybe the adjuster had a bad day?! More like a bad 2 1/2months. My claims adjuster never answers the phone. Im trying to have them come out a take a look at the damage and they approved my claim in absentia. Had a flood issue, the mitigation guys came out and they still wont approve a D&R for my tub because of the ruined insulation on the exterior wall. What the hell do I do at this point? All I want is for them to do is to remove the bad insulation and add it to the claim.

I had a minor fender bender in which I was found at fault due to the fact that I rear ended someone on the freeway at low speeds, my insurance provided me a preliminary estimate only on photos they requested I personally take which was fairly low at 1,100 so they cut me a 600 dollar check (500 dollar deductible) so I went to my local body shop and they inspected it in person and they quoted me 2,700, I told this to my insurance and they told me to tell the body shop to do a "supplement" my question is am I able to request my insurance to pay the supplement directly to me instead of the body shop?

Remember if you feel like the insurance agent is doing you wrong keep a record of all their communications with you or lack thereof and file a complaint against them with your state department of insurance then also open a case against them with the Better Business Bureau

The body shop guy asked for the claims info and is already going to work on the vehicle and bill the insurance I haven’t even talked to the adjuster yet 😳

Hi Mark, I had a house fire and lost everything. My house had to be gutted. I have three claim adjusters. One for dwelling, one for contents, and one for ALE. The content adjuster is nothing like what you described. I dont know how to get my policy limits and the adjuster is being difficult. Any advice?

I got T-Boned while turning left with a green arrow and the other guy ran the red light. I have a police report saying that. His insurance "Elephant" says that I'm 20% responsible. We haven't gotten past that point. He won't budge. I have no responsibility and he totalled my car. He told me and the cop he was messing with his sun visor and didnt see the light.

First, their goal is NOT to get you through as quickly as possible. Their goal is to DELAY payment for as long as possible because the longer that money remains in their account, they’re making huge profits by the interest so it’s in their best interest to delay that payment for as long as possible. Also, the longer they delay it, the more desperate you become and more willing to accept a lower payout.

Adjusters are specifically trained to get you to accept a low offer. None of them are “good”. Some are just more overt about it. Never trust the adjuster. They are not there for you, they’re there to rob from you and give in to corporate greed and possible career advancement at your expense.

My adjuster has me in the whole for $7K and I have full coverage. This is because he claims I will have to pay the selected mechanics storage fee because neither of us knew what was going on for at least 7day they claim. The mechanic accrued $7K in storage fee so the claim adjuster wants to take it out of my amount which would be find but the way the adjuster wrote it up he tried to show I still have the vehicle and I do not so the lien holder is coming after me.

My son's called the insurance company because his house flooded. The insurance company Progressive had him call a company to come dry his house out, cut the bottom of his walls, and pull part of the carpet out. They stop working on it because the Insurance company tells the contractor they're not going to pay anything.Then they tell my son he has to have a pipe put in on the outside of the house I think it's call a knock out but it was done for no reason that cost 1,500. The acted like they had to check his pipe and he had to have the knock out pipe to do that The insurance company then tells them they are only going to cover 8,000. The contractor charged him 12,000. When the contractor called to tell him that they owed 12,000 . His wife said you need to call. Progressive because they are the ones that will be paying you. So now that company has put a lien against my son's house for 12,000 dollar. What should they do?

I've learned the hard way from lawyers that adjusters DO NOT work for you. they will deny, delay, defend and deceive ALL CALIMS. they work for the insurance companies to make as much money as they can, not the public. full stop.

My son was involved in a side swipe collision. I have only liability insurance on my car. The other driver’s insurance filed a claim with my insurance company. My insurance company says I am not libel for the damage to the other car (based on statements from my son and the other driver)and plan to deny the claim. The police report was not helpful at establishing who is at fault. Is there a chance that I can negotiate with the other driver’s insurance company to get them to pay for damages to my car? Or do I need to just suck it up and take the loss?

I can appreciate the fact that at some major insurance companies auto collision claims adjusters are swamped. You may have a few adjusters working "x" amount of claims. Each claim having its own complex issues to deal with. However, once the claims process has started I should expect someone to follow back up with me in a reasonable amount of time after I have made a request to speak with them.

It can be quite the challenge in either trying to reach them on the phone or get a call back/reply to any inquiries/status. Most major insurance companies do have a website where you can file/track your claim, upload documents etc..but its not the same as being able to speak to another human being.

Hi, I asked the insurance to change its evaluation based on valid reasons, but they don’t want to try to re-evaluate the cash value. They purposely priced it HIGHER than their policy limit and I need them to lower the estimate based on valid reasons and my own research. How can I make them lower their estimate or do a new estimate? They are clearly trying not to pay… :(

My insurance already offered to fix my car, and my claim is still open. I already got an estimated offer on my car for a fix. I accidently reversed and hit a wall in a hospital parking lot, but a witness filed a claim against me for no reason.. Damages are less than $1000, so I didn't have to report anything to the DMV, but the adjuster won't close my case. Am, I looking at a fraud claim?. Now the adjuster won't respond. Hello I'm looking for some help. I was driving on the highway when a tree fell on my car. A friend of the home owner cut down the tree. I called the cops. The cops came and directed me to the homeowner for their insurance. I called their homeowners company and filed a claim. The insurance company is say the liability falls on the person cutting the tree not the homeowner. They are trying to reach the guy but are unable to. What should I do?

insurance companies pull your vehicle build sheets and/or window stickers, review condition details about your vehicle interior, exterior and potentially mechanical (check engine light etc unrelated to claim) and send information to a 3rd party company who pull accurate comparable vehicles for sale over the last 30 days and adjust for your vehicles value to get the ACV. You should get pretty close to a private sale, retail number on your vehicle, which is far higher than any trade in value at any dealership.

My car was involved in a hit and run. This happened around midnight to 4am, which I was asleep. I found out the next day my car was hit. I filed a police report just for safety. I also called my insurance company to let them know my car was hit. An adjuster was sent out to my resident address to look at damages and assess the vehicle. He emailed me a supplement paperwork with damages needing repair listed and labor hour. I took it to a body shop and the body shop owner told me the damages do not match to the paperwork I was emailed. The adjuster only listed certain damages. He did not include the rear bumper and rear passenger panel. I called the insurance agent the next day and she was upset the adjuster emailed me the supplement paperwork. He also emailed me an approval letting me know I was ok to take car to body shop. But my concern is them not listing all damges on paperwork. The insurance agent also stated that the adjuster was not supposed to email me that paperwork that because My claim has not been approved that she needs to talk to her supervisor about the adjuster. This makes me feel they are hiding something or being shady. PLEASE HELP.....

I got hit,and Progressive took my brand new car to be fixed. After receiving the estimate I notice that they want to install a 2019 driver seat on my 2022 Honda! Would like to know if I will loose my warrant remaining. The car has only 3300 miles .

I was hit by a bike who got into my way when traffic turn light turned green and i was in the second car to pass through. The bike hit me but he gave a diferente version.


We went to do the claim and both were at fault, but he was the one who was wrong in the first place.
How do I het through it? What could you recommend me? Both insurance know.
To not deal with my insurance deductible can I still work things with the other part insurance? Can they send me their other half to pay me out after getting the estimate?

I rather get the money that the other part send me to fix the car, and put the other half myself without dealing with my insurance and the 1k deductible, please help.

We have safeco, fence fell down from harsh winds, filed claim a month ago and adjuster is not willing to communicate with us at all since we sent all info a month ago, we’ve been very patient but cant even let our dogs out back since then. Very bad experience 🤦🏼‍♂️

How I wish I could turn back time and adjust my actions!! I have USAA coverage and my car stalled for reasons unknown. My FIRST CLAIM ever!! It didn’t work out well - Car in second shop for diagnostic. Weird Damage but due to Water Intrusion. Everyone should know more about their exact coverage. USAA has not been good to me!!

I have comprehensive insurance with $50 deductible, my inusrance company gave me estimate using after market parts and asking me to pay $574. Their argument is car is old and parts are new, so i will have to for that reason.
