Pro tip: don't bother wasting a large chunk of a day opening up your central elevator space, instead make the habit of slamming yourself into the side of the wall whenever ur heading up or down in just a few cycles even with a trash digspeed ull have a large opening.
when going up and mining to the side you don't loose all of ur momentum so it doesn't slow u down too much, as opposed to mining up which is just bad practice.

The tree see grows quite a bit faster and with more minerals if you plant it on top of ore btw.
