Where Do The Clothes At Stores Like TJ Maxx Come From?

the clothing is cheap but so is the quality
thats not a bargain to me

To me it should be very obvious why these retailers do so well.

Inflation made it so that people's salaries have barely changed yet the cost of groceries has significantly increased, eating away at people's capability to shop at the department stores.

Note the price tags, if it says "past season" it is the same merchandise from department stores that didn't sell at full price. That is where the real bargains are. Otherwise, it is cheap knockoffs with designer names on them. Check the materials tag inside the clothes, the majority of them are polyester junk. Shoes and purses are inferior quality materials made to look like the real stuff. It surprises me how many people are fooled by this.

I think that the changing types of clothing is a benefit. It's fun looking at new stuff imo

My husband went to Bangladeshi for a trip, he bought Jcrew, Nordstrom Merch on the street at a fraction of the cost!

Most of these USA brands charge exorbitant prices in USA for inexplicable reasons 😊

I love just browsing around TJ Maxx. There’s so much to look at from the shoes to the bags to the clothes. I’ve found some really beautiful pieces there.

China, Taiwan, Vietnam etc. TjMaxx has so much from other countries. While I worked during a holiday season I saw nothing from USA.

Of course people are becoming more value conscious. Biden has destroyed the economy with inflation

If I had to guess I’d say the items come from higher end retailers back stock.

Personally I enjoy the “theater” of a traditional department store. The warehouse style of most discounters doesn’t do it for me. Besides I usually get the same low price with the JCP coupon that comes in the mail.

If you want quality clothing, you got to learn how to create clothes for yourself. These clothes simply don't last.

I think SHEIN added to the downfall of many stores and in store shopping. The clothes are at a cheap price, they keep up with trends, fast trends. The bad thing is the quality of the clothes. But people don’t care bc they are like 3$ for a shirt.

I've been shopping at TJ Maxx for several years now when they first arrived in Australia taking over another brand. I find the price is excellent for the mostly quality garment. The one important thing shopping there is to buy it as you see it as tomorrow it will most probably be sold out! The choice of style is also an attraction together with other household and personal care items. These stores are spreading in our country and I can't see that changing anytime soon.

Sometimes some good brands do not last or good quality.

Not much difference in prices from normal malls store vs off price retailers where I'm at in Malaysia

Exactly everyone wants a good deal no matter how much money may have.

Same thing with Zara, one of my favorite store. Their quality and exclusiveness have changed. Not to mention how disorganized the store is since they have so many ordinary and common clothes as compared with years ago. I miss the time when they have exclusive and different clothes. :(
