Summer 1980 i was there and Sheringham, was supposed to be a horse riding holiday, but my friend came off a hill a bit fast knocking me over and sprained my ankle, so i ended up in a and e wherever that was. Some teenage mods next to us got their tent flooded with the constant rain. So one day i shall return and hope its a better trip
ОтветитьNever knew Cromer is so nice.Thankyou for an interesting video
ОтветитьInfront of Cromer now lost to the sea was a town called Shipden. Once upon a time you could hear the towns church bell ringing out under water at low tide from the beach. Eventually it was blown up I believe due to being a danger to boats with it's close proximity to the surface. Cromer has a fascinating and rich (literally) history. Once a favourite holiday destination of Royalty. The No1 chippy in Cromer used to be on the council estate right out of town it was always award winning back in the day. Off there tomorrow will see if it still is 🤤. It will never be the same without Shrimp Davies. Another point of interest all the green looking domes on top of some of the buildings is actually copper when built they looked golden. There used to be a zoo with Elephants and tigers. The railway used to go from Wolverton the Royal station for Sandringham (still there the station I think) to Cromer and the Royal residence in Cromer. There's still a viaduct in Cromer from the old M&GN railway.
ОтветитьBorn and bred in Norfolk, moved to Cromer about a year ago. Without a doubt the best place I’ve lived in Norfolk, incredible place to be. Shame the Banksy has been scratched away even more since your visit.
ОтветитьLovely video
ОтветитьVisited Cromer August 2022. Hot humid week. Very good peir and on the day we visited there was a fantastic large steel drum group playing.
ОтветитьI have fond memories of Cromer and the crabs ❤ definitely will visit again!
ОтветитьBeen here!
ОтветитьMy father and I always stay in Norfolk for Christmas and we seem to end up in Cromer on Christmas Eve for a long walk, a trip to the cinema and a meal. It looks beautiful in Summer. I live abroad, so your videos are comforting. I sometimes come back and rewatch. Love your channel.
ОтветитьThis place is totally magical! 🧜♂🧚♂🐬🐠🐟🦀🦞🦐 🌟⭐🌠
ОтветитьI’d recommend you do not go to no.1 my mate worked there and a sewer bust one time the workers was forced to cook in all the fecies and didn’t close the shop
ОтветитьHello Tim I enjoy your videos I visited Cromer last Saturday and the place is stunning had a paddle in the sea and walked down the pier the views were stunning and had a walk around the town looked in the shops it's an amazing place on a wonderful coastline
ОтветитьI grew up in and around Cromer and I never heard it called the Hotel de Paris or Hotel de Parees. It was always the French pronunciation, Hotel de Paree.
ОтветитьI can safely say I've lived all over the country and Cromer has been the best place I've ever lived.
ОтветитьWhy don't they pedestrians the town centre ? Would make it even more of a pleasure .
ОтветитьCor blimey. This takes me back. I'm only 21 but I used to go on holiday to Norfolk from Yorkshire every other year with my family when I was younger! Cromer, Sheringham, Weybourne. The whole coastline is fantastic. It will always have a special place in my heart.
ОтветитьThe steps were always just called the white steps by eevryone throughout my childhood living in cormer, not very imaginative thinking back
Ответитьthere are no ghosts, only demons masquerading as such
ОтветитьThe waves here are amazing in summer
ОтветитьGreat Video Tim,
Yes, please do a critique of the Red Lion at Cromer. I had a great weekend there pre-covid. I had the best room there, about £135, but well worth it. I had the private balcony you mentioned, and the little turret was part of the massive bathroom which had a window seat in the turret with a view of the sea, a freestanding bath, and a shower big enough for two. The bedroom had a lounge area with a big TV and a smaller TV by the bed.
The downstairs bar was very atmospheric, with a great crowd of locals and a massive choice of great ales (I belong to CAMRA). The bar and hotel were very dog-friendly, but I love that. Don't miss the great parish church, which could almost be a cathedral.
In May this year I went to Potters at Hopton and I have to say (like you did in your review) it was pretty faultless.
Happy New Year Tim,
Stuart
An excellent snapshot of a beautiful and special part of the world, well done Tim keep them coming.
ОтветитьYou have done it again. I had no idea
ОтветитьTim, we were in Cromer earlier this year. Absolutely love the place. Heartily recommend Mary Janes fish and chips. We had the haddock. Out of this world. We caught the End of the Pier Show on a rainy afternoon. Really entertaining and surprisingly professional. Great video. Thanks 👍
ОтветитьReally enjoyed the memories of Cromer Tim & having a peek inside the Hotel De Paris!
ОтветитьYou certainly have got to give it to the Victorians Tim, they made everything beautiful & grand!
What a gem of a video, thoroughly enjoyed the peek into The Hotel De Paris, I remember seeing that Hotel from the outside & wondering what it was like inside, truly magnificent & it's been there since 1799 & still looks in fine fettle!
I think I've been in the Cafe at the end of Cromer Pier near the Theatre, I'd never seen the Theatre inside tho. Remember clearly watching the Sunset on that side of the Pier, in fact the pier hasn't changed at all since I was there over 20 years ago.
I've never known anyone go walking under the Piers Tim.
It's scary but fascinating as you say to see the way they were made, you can't really appreciate that from walking above.
The drawing by Banksy was a puzzle, didn't know what that was about.
Banksy did a picture in Camden, London as a tribute to Amy Winehouse too.
I think I climbed down those stairs down to the Beach over 20 years ago when I was able!
Really enjoyed this blog of Cromer felt like day ja viu having been there before!
I worked at the Hotel de Paris in the early 80’s and they filmed an episode of Tales of the Unexpected there!
ОтветитьCamerawork made me seasick
ОтветитьI grew up in Cromer and learnt more about it today than I did in 15 years. What an enjoyable experience. Thank you.
ОтветитьTim, you should probably mention Mary Jane's chip shop as being a delicious place to eat in Cromer. They were the number one chip shop in Cromer before 'Number One' stole their thunder!! Either way they are both superb (and i'm an expert on these matters!🤣).
ОтветитьMy grandparents live here
Ответитьlove cromer go there multiple times a year
ОтветитьTim loves going under a pier and a haunted attraction so imagine his delight when he found this haunted pier 😂
ОтветитьBrilliant channel, I must say. I like your style of presentation and it's fun to learn about all these funny little places! You might want to stay in the Prince William Hotel in Paddington, if it's still there! It was awful - bedding not changed, interconnecting doors between rooms allowed all the noise in, window wouldn't close, shower gel like toilet cleaner, tv didn't work, bedbugs, stale bread, cheap margerine and powdered "creamer" 2 years out of date........awful place!
Ответитьanother cool walk mate, my parents use to take us for family holidays to cromer country club many, many years ago. very nostalgic for me. think i might have to revisit that place! :)
ОтветитьHi, are there any seaside towns with funfairs in Norfolk? Thanks from Auckland NZ.
Ответитьwatch out for the goats 🤣
ОтветитьCromer is my favourite place on earth
ОтветитьGreat movie to watch just a couple of weeks before I go there for the first time. Impressed with the technical quality, editing and camera used too....excellent stuff.
ОтветитьI’ve been to Cromer. I like Cromer a lot.
ОтветитьAbsolutely loved this video. We have been to Cromer many times and absolutely love it! You have inspired us to book our next trip here.
ОтветитьGreat videos, Tim. American here that studied in London for a few years. I’m currently trying to get back and your videos bring me fond memories of my weekend excursions which keeps me working harder to get back.
Keep up the great work!
Grew up in East Runton just up the road and went to Cromer elementary school. Best crabs in the world.
ОтветитьGreat video Tim , when are you gonna visit Scotland and Jersey Channel islands? 👍
ОтветитьWhat a great video! The drone footage was fantastic!
I was in Cromer with my family about 6 years ago at Easter time. I’d love to go back. (We stayed near one of the old railway lines and it was right next to Norfolk’s only main line railway tunnel!)
Could u imagine living next to that chips shop, my life expectancy would diminish rapidly.
ОтветитьAny recommendations on hotels on Cromer I might be planning to go in the spring
Ответитьi bet the hotel de Paris is not owned by britannia... hehehe
ОтветитьAs a person who lives in Cromer myself it’s a wonderful place to live I love living here ❤️Cromer has amazing places!
