curious how the odor is for your cage. i have a lot of wooden stuff in my cage and i find it starts smelling quickly if i don’t spit clean super often. just two days ago i deep cleaned my cage since i was moving in my two new girls and i soaked and cleaned all wooden things and washed the whole cage and it’s already starting to stink, which is a pain since my cage is in my bedroom. it doesn’t help that i have 6 now and are smelly ladies but i’d like to know how you combat your cage stinking a lot super quickly

What do u use for the bottom to have that much bedding is it a box? Did u make it or get it somewhere, I wanna know bc I wanna get a rat but I wanna get a cage and stuff ready first and I would love to have a deep bottom for them to barrow in

How did you fix the acrylic base for your bedding in the bottom and how tall are your sides??? I have looked up types of wood my ratties can/can’t have, but could you use oak branches from outside??? Could you bake them in the oven to kill any bugs? Also, one more thing…I got some bamboo sticks to build them some small housing, bridges and such. Is there a safe glue that can be used for this? I so love what you did here! It’s so awesome!

My goodness! I just LOVE your cage setups! You really give me a lot of inspiration and information and I can't thank you enough for both. My rats are all living better and more enriching lives than they would have if I'd never found your channel. Actually, I probably wouldn't have rats now if it weren't for you. I did have a rat for a short while years ago, but after only a week I had to give her to a cousin before moving states.😢

I was wondering how your switch to kiln dried shavings has been from the mini hemp? I'm currently thinking of switching the bedding for my ratties but 'Snowflake' shavings aren't available in Australia and a lot of the wood shavings i've found are pine and don't state if they're kiln-dried at all.

where do you get the cute colored sputnik from? all of the ones i see online are colors that dont match my setup

Maybe things are different in the US compared to UK, but I’ve only ever had to take two out of 12 rats I’ve had in my life to the vet and believe me I’m not one to be stingy or skeptical of vet visits at all. All of my rats have lived minimum three years, majority living over 3, and my last rat before my current rats lived for SIX years. I wish I had proper documentation of it, but I do have the word of friends and family who knew him and watched him live his whole six years. I only took two to the vet because one was a personal rescue I had no clue what situation she had come from, she needed URI treatment immediately and the other had a cyst. Literally never had to take the rest to the vet, lived for a minimum of three years, and I never gave them things like water additives, processed foods, or any sort of nutritional supplements. I gave them organic lab blocks, and fed them a personal mix of fruits veggies flax seeds eggs etc daily along with their blocks. I’m very curious about what causes such a major difference in rat owning experience between you and I. They never died of any crazy illnesses, they simply lost their energy over time and died peacefully of old age which I’m extremely grateful for.

hey girl i have a important question i have 2 female mice i used to have 3 but sadly one of the girls named holly had passed i think she was the alpha or the leader something like that. anways one my my girls keep making this weird squeaky noise not to loud but loud enough to hear it she has been doing this for a while even befor holly passed i don't know if she is in pain, doing it for fun, suddenly really vocal, or trying to look for holly but her other cage mate does have tumors but i have no clue why she is do you and someone know what types of squeakying noises i should be aware of?

They can have timothy hay? :o I've been wanting to give my rats some grass or hay for keeping warm and building nests but wasn't sure what was safe

I need help finding a good bedding! In the US the beddings you suggest are really expensive. Hemp bedding is like $50 for one cage clean. I can’t find the bedding in the video either. Suggestions?

what supplements are you giving your rats and are they needed? What are the benefits? I’ve never heard of people giving their rats supplements before so i’m very intrigued!

Honestly it’s nice and all but all of this stuff needs to be properly cleaned every few days so this would not work for me I need to be able to take everything out for sanitizing reasons they only poo in the litter and they pee absolutely everywhere I feel like in a set up like this they may get sick often bacterial infections etc I use three cat litter boxes in the cage and use fleece liners and hammocks I also keep big tiles in the cage for incase they get hot but my home is a comfortable temperature
